Erica reeled when Chris held up the cover of the Exposer which bared Frankie's photo and
the headline "How Erica Kane Mowed Me Down!" She was further enraged as she read Frankie's story
about Erica's reckless driving, and she vowed to annihilate Frankie if she attempted to
extort money from her. Erica asked Chris if he would investigate Frankie, and he
reluctantly agreed. Chris admired Erica's deep commitment to protecting anyone or anything
she cared about, and he expressed his hopes that Erica would grow to care for him.
Touched, Erica asked Chris for a reason to care. Chris told Erica that he was always
married to his career, but that he wanted that to change. However, a skeptical Erica
didn't buy Chris' explanation, but before they could finish conversing, Erica was called
away. After Erica bolted, Chris took a mysterious call, and he explained that the plans were
all on schedule. Chris then headed to Ryan's room, where Ryan caught Chris snooping.
Meanwhile, Frankie searched for something on the side of the road where the accident had
occurred. Holding Frankie's purse in hand, Bianca asked her if that was what she was
looking for. Bianca confronted Frankie about the tabloid story, telling her how awful it
was of her to sell the story to a sleazy reporter like Steele. Frankie maintained that she
merely told Steele the truth, and Bianca warned Frankie that Erica was not someone she
wanted as an enemy. Unfazed, Frankie started to walk off, but her knees buckled, and Bianca
caught her. Upon learning Frankie hadn't eaten since the accident, Bianca invited her to
come home with her. Later, Erica was horrified to find a towel-clad Frankie in Bianca's bedroom.
Leo confided in David about Laura's desire to have a big, splashy wedding. Confused, David
asked why Leo was opposed to another ceremony. David then surmised that Leo's real problem
could be that he didn't want to be married to Laura at all. Laura eavesdropped as Leo
expressed his concerns that Greenlee might interfere with a large wedding. David pointed
out that Leo used to be a happy person, but that all changed when he married Laura. Leo
admitted his unhappiness and his fears of returning to his old way of life, so David
agreed to help by suggesting that a large wedding might take too much out of Laura. A
determined Laura interrupted and happily announced that she had already booked the Valley
Inn for the wedding.
Rosa protested Mateo's decision to ship her off to Texas, and Mateo panicked when his
mystery pursuer indicated that he would always find Rosa's hiding place. Mateo stunned
Edmund when he suggested that Chris might be Proteus, and Edmund insisted upon working
together to unravel the mystery. Armed with Edmund's plan, Mateo answered Proteus' next
call to his cell phone. Proteus asked Mateo if he was ready to do business now, and Mateo
agreed to accommodate him/her.
