Lois met her future husband Ned Ashton at one of his Eddie Maine concerts and quickly they became lovers. But Lois did not know that Eddie Maine was actually Ned Ashton, an heir to the Quartermaine fortune. Not wanting Lois to know the truth about who his family was, he told her he was a traveling salesman when he wasn't on the road with his band. Still living the lie, Ned married Lois and they moved to Port Charles where she was reunited with her old friend from Brooklyn, Sonny Corinthos. She also became quick friends with Brenda Barrett, with whom she eventually opened up L&B Records.

Unbeknownst to Lois, Ned was being blackmailed to marry Katherine Bell to save the Quartermaines. Eventually Ned's "real" life could not be suppressed anymore and one day Lois was watching television and saw Eddie Maine as Ned Ashton and married to Katherine Bell. Lois felt compelled to confront Ned, but only in her unique way. At Katherine's birthday party, Lois jumped out of a cake to wish Mrs. Ned Ashton happy birthday from the "other" Mrs. Ned Ashton. Ned was humiliated and to top it off, Lois left him.

But the two could not be kept apart forever and they finally celebrated their love with a huge glorious wedding.

When Lois became pregnant, she requested that Ned distance himself from his crazy family for the sake of their child. But when Ned's mother Tracy came back to Port Charles to take over ELQ, things came to a head. Tracy despised Lois from the beginning and did not support Ned's marriage to Lois. Luckily for Ned and Lois Tracy left town when the takeover failed, but she left ELQ in financial trouble. Ned felt compelled to help the family, but Lois forced Ned to choose between her and the baby or his job. Unfortunately for Lois and their baby Brooke Lynn, Ned chose his job and Lois left town.

A year later, Lois came for a visit so Ned could see his daughter. They were not getting back together, but it was obvious the two were still in love. At this time, Ned was involved in a legal case where he was being forced to divulge the secret that he had slept with Monica Quartermaine years before when he worked at a spa. Lois forgave Ned, but told him she could not live with any more lies. But Ned was not able to keep up his part of the bargain and she left Port Charles again. She did later return for a few days to comfort her friend Brenda when she was left at the altar by Sonny.

Lois came back to Port Charles looking for her runaway daughter, Brooke Lynn who came to Port Charles to escape her stage mother. Lois believed her daughter had a gift for singing and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. But Brooke Lynn wanted her music for herself, not to sell. Lois was reunited with her ex husband Ned who agreed to let her run L&B again if she agreed not to pressure Brooke Lynn. Lois agreed, but she continues to be challenged not to pressure her daughter into sharing her beautiful voice with the rest of the world.
