In 1988, Ned carried on with Monica Quartermaine, unaware that she was his aunt.

Ned vied with Lila's mechanic, Decker Moss, for the hand of Monica's long-lost daughter, Dawn, in 1989.

Ned lost Dawn when, on their wedding day, she learned of his and Monica's fling.

Ned left his wife, Jenny Eckert, when he found out that she had not been, as she had said, a virgin on their wedding night.

In 1993, Ned met Lois Cerullo, who gave him a mike and told him to sing with the Idle Rich - which, to his surprise, he loved!

A year later, Ned married both Lois and Katherine Bell.

After escaping from Katherine's clutches, Ned remarried Lois in 1995.

Lois left Ned in 1996, fearful that she was becoming as corrupt as the rest of his family.

He has to; he's in serious trouble. Ned was born into money. As the son of Tracy Quartermaine and Lord Larry Ashton, he never wanted for anything - except love.

While working at the Green Meadows Spa and going by the name Ward in 1988, Ned encountered and seduced guest Monica Quartermaine, unaware that she was, in fact, his aunt. When Ned and Monica met again in Port Charles - and their identities were revealed - Ned insisted he hadn't known of their connection when he made his play for her. And then he made another attempt!

Monica never again gave in to Ned's charms, but she did help him make peace with his father, Lord Larry Ashton. Ned soon was distracted, anyway, by a new arrival in Port Charles: pretty student nurse Dawn Winthrop, who turned out to be Monica's long-lost daughter. In 1989, as Ned vied with his cousin, Alan, to be the major stockholder in ELQ, he also competed with Lila's mechanic, Decker Moss, for Dawn's affection. Ned's own mother, Tracy, had asked the grease monkey to throw a monkey wrench into her son's affair. On the day in 1990 that Ned was to have taken Dawn to be his wife, she learned about his fling with her mother and left him at the altar.

A year later, after Dawn's death, Ned pursued Jenny Eckert, who, though in love with Paul Hornsby, wouldn't give him the time of day because he was, in turn, engaged to Tracy. After Ned and Jenny's 1992 engagement party, he wanted to make love to her, but she begged off, explaining that she was a virgin. Later, after their marriage, Ned learned that not only hadn't Jenny been a virgin on their wedding night, but she had had an affair with Sen. Jack Kensington and even miscarried his baby! The Ashtons' marriage was over.

In 1993, on a business trip, Ned encountered Lois Cerullo, the manager of a so-so band called The Idle Rich. Ned got up and sang with the group, and Lois was so impressed, she signed the man she knew only as "Eddie Maine" to a record deal - and took him to bed!

A year later, "Eddie" married Lois - and then Ned was forced by his family to marry blackmailer Katherine Bell. For a while, Ned kept up two lives and maintained two households, one as himself, the other as Eddie. Then, Lois saw the Quartermaines on TV; the jig was up.

When Ned finally extricated himself from his unholy alliance with Katherine, he worked overtime to earn Lois's forgiveness. In 1995, he married her for the second time. Although she wanted to make her life with Ned work - and she wanted him to be a part of the life of their daughter - she feared that she was becoming mean-spirited, like all of the Quartermaines, and she left Ned.

In 1997, Lois returned to Port Charles with her and Ned's infant daughter, Brooke Lynn. The desire between Ned and Lois was rekindled, but after Lois overheard Ned blackmailing Justus Ward, she left town with Brooke Lynn once again.

Ned remained as CEO of ELQ and assumed the role of his family's "gatekeeper." Alexis David found herself in the same role with her own dysfunctional Cassadine family and she and Ned soon found themselves entering into a romance.

In 1999, Lila's distant cousin Chloe Morgan arrived in Port Charles. Ned, Alexis, Jax and Chloe quickly formed a friendship and Ned, Alexis and Jax were determined to help Chloe keep control of her company, Chloe Morgan Designs. To prevent Chloe's greedy Aunt Gertrude from winning control of the company, Jax agreed to marry Chloe and the foursome went to Las Vegas. Aunt Gertrude's sudden arrival threw a wrench into their plans and in the end, Jax and Alexis became husband and wife, as did Ned and Chloe.

The foursome returned to Port Charles and continued with their sham marriages, although Ned and Alexis managed to spend as much time alone together as they could, as did Jax and Chloe. When Gertrude successfully exposed their phony marriages and gained control of Chloe's company, the couples divorced.

Ned finally mustered up the resolve to walk away from Edward and ELQ once and for all and devote himself fulltime to L&B. Ned and Alexis are still very much in love, although neither one seems ready to actually walk down the aisle for real. Alexis was surprised, but supportive, when Ned accepted a series of concert dates for Eddie Maine.

Alexis surprised Ned on the road one day and ended up being labeled his "groupie." Ned wasn't pleased when Alexis moved into Jason's vacant penthouse, but they soon kissed and made up. Alexis decided to surprise Ned after one of his concerts but she was one who ended being surprised when she was exposed as "Eddie's Angel!"

Ned whisked Alexis away to Belize and asked her to marry him the next day. Alexis agreed, but they were discovered by the media and headed back to Port Charles. Ned and Alexis then decided they had no other choice but to have a big media wedding, which they started to plan for the near future.

Ned and Alexis planned a media event wedding with the hopes of getting the press off their backs after the whole "Eddie's Angel" debacle. Everything seemed to go as planned until Alexis began to walk down the aisle. She panicked when she started to have flashes of becoming a Quartermaine wife and fled the wedding. Ultimately after reconciling and then breaking up again, Ned and Alexis decided to go their separate ways.

Ned abandoned ELQ and put all of his energy into finding new acts for L&B. Ned met Alexis' long lost sister, Kristina and soon became romantically involved with her. But their relationship was challenged when Alexis became pregnant with Sonny Corinthos' child. To protect the child from its father, Ned offered to claim the baby as his own. Alexis agreed and they both lied to Kristina that they had slept together. But Kristina eventually found out that Sonny was the real father and immediately went to tell him. Unfortunately Kristina was in the wrong place at the wrong time and she died in a warehouse explosion Alcazar set up for Sonny.

When Alexis' baby was born premature she barred Ned from seeing baby Kristina, named after her sister. Ned would not have any of it and threatened to tell Sonny the truth if she didn't let Ned see the baby. Meanwhile, Ned began a heated affair with Faith Roscoe and conspired with her to take down Sonny.

When Alexis was convicted of murdering Luis Alcazar, Ned was granted custody of Kristina. Ned began dating Skye Quartermaine and she took a quick liking to Kristina. In the meantime, in order to get closer to her daughter, Alexis dressed up as Dobson, the new Quartermaine butler. Soon the truth came out, but Ned couldn't bring himself to press charges against Alexis.

Alexis still desperately wanted to get her daughter back, so she teamed up with her brother Stefan to discredit Ned as a father by accusing him of sexually assaulting a young woman from his Eddie Maine days. The woman eventually confessed to lying but fingered Alexis as the woman who paid her off. In response to this, Ned sued for full custody of Kristina, but ultimately he couldn't go through with it.

After his brother AJ ran off with the Quartermaine millions, Ned partnered up with Tracy to help her become CEO of ELQ and then they would split the profit. But this plan did not end up working, so Ned was forced to come up with something else. He decided to revive L&B and soon hired his half brother Dillon to be a music video director. His business started to boom when Lorenzo Alcazar invested in L&B for his niece Sage to get a chance at a singing career.

Dillon found a young woman with a beautiful singing voice, hiding out late at night at L&B. it was soon discovered that she was Brooke Lynn, Lois and Ned's daughter. When Lois found out that her daughter had run away to Port Charles, she showed up and confronted Ned. When Lois showed back up in Port Charles, Ned offered her L&B if she promised not to pressure Brooke Lynn into singing. Lois agreed and Ned now has his ex-wife and daughter back in Port Charles.
