Cole confides to Langston that he's worried that Ramsey being named police commissioner could spell trouble for him, since Cole's shooting of Miles months earlier could be reopened. Ramsey quickly gets on Talia's bad side. Bo, Antonio and Talia team up and succeed in tricking Ramsey into signing John's reinstatement papers. John is shocked to see Ramsey in charge when he returns to the station after arriving back from his trip to Washington, D.C.
