Q&A with Kristen Alderson
Q. You just turned Sweet 16--how did you celebrate your birthday?
A. I had my party at Nikki Midtown with a whole bunch of my friends from NY, school, the teens from OLTL and friends from the show. Also, some of my cousins from PA and of course my mother and my brother. It was a blast and I couldn't have asked for a better party. And I also had a party on the Spirit of Philadelphia with my dad's side of the family. When it came to my actual birthday I taped a special scene in the rain late at night (which I was actually looking forward to).
Q. How do you like working with the other teens on the show? Do you all have a close relationship?
A. We are so close that it's scary, we are like sisters. We also got close to the dancers that joined us for the musical. Brandon is such a pleasure to work with and we all hang out after work. Me and the girls have sleepovers especially if we have an early call the next day.
Q. What was your first reaction on performing in OLTL's "Prom Night : The musical "?
A. We were all very excited to tape this musical but a little nervous at the same time. Once we got on set and the director told us her ideas for the first song "Come With Me" we were so excited and had the best time taping.
Q. How did your schedule change upon taking on "Prom Night"?
A. It changed drastically. Usually we rehearse and then tape our scenes for the day. But for the musical, when we weren't taping, we were rehearsing another musical number and when we weren't doing that, we were in session in the recording studio.
Q. Was working on Prom Night similar to your theater stint in "Annie"? How was it different?
A. It was different because this was all new, original songs written for the musical. It was done over a period of a few weeks and we taped different songs everyday.
Q. What is your favorite scene in "Prom Night"?
A. When I sing the reprise of "Come with Me" and what happens during that song in the rain. I am really excited to see how it turns out.
Q. Starr and Cole have an undeniable chemistry on-screen—how's the chemistry between you and Brandon off screen?
A. We are really good friends. We hang out and have a lot of fun together. Brandon is a lot sillier than Cole is and her tries to bring that to his scenes. We always have fun.
