Benito or "Bennie" as he is known to his family, grew up in an artistic family and got his start on stage at the age of 8, playing the vihuela — a five string guitar — in his father's mariachi band. His mother and sisters were heavily involved in local theater and introduced him to acting. At 16 years old, he moved to Los Angeles where he spent his senior year at Hollywood High Performing Arts Magnet. He later moved to London for three years and studied at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).
