CHARACTER BIO

Has any other figure been more of a controversial political lightning rod for the Walker’s than Kitty’s husband? (Well, other than Kitty, that is!)

Robert McCallister has spent nearly his entire life in public service. After serving in the Gulf War, Robert began what would become a very successful political career.

Father to Sophie and Jack (from a previous marriage), Robert is currently a Republican Senator for California. He was interviewed by Kitty Walker on her political talk show Red, White & Blue, where she impressed the Senator enough that he offered her a position as his communications director. She accepted, and thus began their friendship, which then evolved into a romantic relationship. As their things between them grew more serious, so did Robert's political ambitions. Near the time that Robert announced his candidacy for the 2008 presidential race, he and Kitty got engaged.

After Robert lost the Republican nomination, Kitty and Robert agreed that she should leave her job in his office to focus on her career as an author and political commentator. Robert invited Kevin to take over Kitty’s job, feeling Kevin’s passion and differing political beliefs would be a good moral compass and an asset in his campaign race for Governor of California.

Kitty, however, was beginning to like the idea of she and Robert starting a family of their own, and wasn’t eager to return to the campaign trail. When they realized they were infertile, Robert encouraged Kitty to consider adoption. After finding a woman willing to let Kitty and Robert adopt her child, the two found themselves waiting for a baby. Robert believed that he and Kitty could have it all—a family and a successful run for office.

Robert’s ambition usually causes him to push ahead without limits, and this time it led to tragic results. Just as Robert’s child with Kitty was born, the Senator suffered a massive heart attack.

Unfortunately, Robert’s brush with mortality only caused him to want to continue forwarding his political career. Kitty began to feel like she and Evan were less and less a priority. As Kitty began to pull away, Sarah Walker, Kitty’s sister, helped Robert realize that if he didn’t start paying more attention to his home life he would risk losing his wife. The warning came too late, and Robert was shocked to discover that Kitty had begun an emotional affair with a single dad she met in the park while walking with Evan.

Robert and Kitty separated. Robert flew to Mexico to convince Kitty to come home. Unfortunately, Kitty and Robert couldn’t agree on a way to mend the marriage. So while his run for Governor is pushing ahead, the fate of Robert’s marriage remains unclear.
