You're planning to knock on a perfect stranger's door and inform him that his dead wife was unfaithful, and that his son Ryan is not his biological son. Why in the world would I want to go with you?

CHARACTER BIO

Perhaps nobody has been privy to the Walker family secrets—and the burden that’s come with keeping them—more so than Uncle Saul.

Saul Holden, Nora's only brother, had a long career as Chief Financial Officer of the family business, Ojai Foods, while working alongside his brother-in-law, William Walker. Saul taught his nephew Tommy and niece Sarah much of what they know about produce and food distribution, as well as the nuts and bolts of managing the company finances. However, Saul’s part in covering up William’s ploy to defraud the company for a risky land deal caused much turmoil within the Walker family and for Ojai Foods.

A passionate oenophile, Saul is also known by his nieces and nephews for his exquisite taste in food and wine.

Saul has always enjoyed a good relationship with his mother, Ida, much to his sister Nora’s chagrin. Though Nora and Saul are close, she was shocked to discover that her brother was in fact, gay, and had hidden it from the family for years. After finally coming out to Kevin, Saul shared his secret with the rest of the family and has since begun dating men.

Along with his knowledge of William’s dirty business dealings, he also knew about William’s illicit affairs, keeping them from his sister as a way of protecting the family. While the Walker’s all learned of William’s relationship with longtime mistress Holly Harper, it was only recently revealed that Saul also knew about William’s affair with Connie Lafferty.

Later, Ryan came to Pasadena and began work at Ojai Foods. Sarah and Holly eventually realized that Ryan had an axe to grind with the Walkers and instructed Saul to offer Ryan a severance package to leave the company. When Ryan questioned Saul on whether he would take the pay off if he were in Ryan’s position, Saul, feeling guilty for his part in Connie’s suicide, didn’t have the heart to let the boy leave. Saul eventually went to Holly and asked to return to a job at Ojai so that he could help Ryan find his way at the company and within the family. Holly agreed to the deal, warning Saul that he would owe her for the favor. Saul agreed—making a pact with William’s ex-mistress.

For years, Saul has been the bearer of many of William’s secrets—and there may be more to come.
