Wine of the Week: 2005 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley, CA - The wine festival, the quintessentially California experience. With Walker Landing and Ojai Foods on the brink of bankruptcy what better way to spend the afternoon than at a wine competition. Enter 'cheap' wine, Nora and her forty something doctor, and pregnancy blues and in interesting pairing we shall have! This calls for something a little more complex. Dating back to the mid 70's, Jordan winery has been making great Cabernet for over 30 years in California. Always approachable and always complex, the 2005 Cab is a knockout. Notes include red currant, cherry, blackberry and blueberry with a hint of vanilla from oak aging. Cheers!
Jane, the chairperson of the board at Ojai, wants to do a taste test of the new, cheap wine. Surprisingly, Saul loves the blend and wants to enter it in a wine festival competition. Sarah, who has been worrying that Luc is becoming more of an au pair than a boyfriend, offers his artistic services to create the label.
Luc says he doesn't paint on demand, but he'll do it for her. When Sarah pushes for a glimpse of Luc's work before it's done, he gets a little moody. Nevertheless, the label is impressive. Sarah later tries to soft sell Luc's services to a prospective client. When the guy tells Luc that Sarah is a good agent, the bummed out Frenchman responds, "Trouble is I thought she was my girlfriend."
Rebecca is six weeks pregnant. She's been desperately trying to get in touch with Justin, but he's swamped with med school. She finally confides to David that she's expecting a baby and he tells her she needs to tell Justin. But when he finally surfaces from his studies, Justin tells Rebecca he hopes she understands that there are going to be times when he can't be there for her. It's no surprise that she opts to not break the baby news. You know, Justin is studying to be a doctor. So we're thinking he'll eventually figure things out. Say in nine months or so?
