Wine of the Week: 2007 La Fenêtre Pinot Noir, Le Bon Climat Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley - I sometimes call Pinot Noir the Zen Master of wine grapes. It often walks that perfect balance between acidity and sweetness, Mineral and fruit, complexity and focus, Yin and Yang. It’s this balance that makes Pinot Noir so great to pair with food, and also drink on its own. The 2007 Le Bon Climat from La Fenêtre boasts red fruit notes of Strawberry and raspberry with an earthy mid palate and a spicy finish. A special guest will arrive this week to shake things up… leave it to Walkers to find balance with the help of a little wine, and a delicious Mole!

Kitty and Nora hear a late night noise. Then Luc comes in saying he heard something as well. Someone is in the house. With French-like stealthiness, Luc makes his way into the kitchen and wrestles the intruder to the ground. But before Nora club him over the head with a broom he cries out, “Mom!” It’s Tommy! He’s back from Mexico and wants to know why there’s a half-naked foreign guy in the kitchen.

Sarah, Justin and Kevin converge at Nora’s house to catch up with Tommy, who seems quite mellow. All that vegan food and meditation has had a Zen affect on him. Nora suggests a family dinner and Tommy says that would be great. But judging by his squirminess, we’re not so sure that’s the truth.

Nora wants to fly Julia and Elizabeth down from Seattle to surprise Tommy. That’s not going to happen. Julia told her that she and Tommy are getting a divorce and he hasn’t spoken to Elizabeth in months. When Nora confronts Tommy about this, he tells her it’s none of her business. Think Nora will go along with that?

BROTHERS & SISTERS -

Did Nora push Tommy too hard?

Even though she had the right intentions, was it Nora's place to tell the rest of the family about Tommy's family issues?

Nora knows her family best and has managed to keep it together through extremely difficult circumstances. While she can be overbearing at times, the reality of the situation is that she was right and that Tommy is a punk and should have listened to his mother. If Nora hadn’t snooped and spilled the beans, one of the sisters would have. She just got to him first. If he is going to come back home and expect his family to take him back in after his deplorable behavior of the past, then he can at least come clean to his mother about the way in which he has been treating his wife and child. Nora is Elizabeth's grandmother and has a right to know what is going on in her life. There is no end to Tommy's selfishness. He cheats on Julia, bankrupts the family company, and then he has a midlife crisis to the tune of excommunicating his family (one of whom has cancer), the only people who can stand him. Reformation of self is all-encompassing. If you cannot do it all, don't come back and claim to be reformed until you can.

Tommy is an adult so he is in charge of his own life, but stressful situations such as his can be worked through and thought out with support of a network of friends &/or family. It all turned out for the best since he's heading to Seattle. I'm sure Kitty's talk and photo album was a catalyst that spurred Tommy to come to this decision. If he Nora hadn't called Julie with such good intentions and then told Tommy and it come out over dinner, Tommy may not have made the trip. PS-My daughter and I LOVE this show and enjoy watching it together each Sunday. Keep up the great work on a super show!!

I think it is very irresponsible, since you are supposedly an RN to say that "the majority of people" do not survive cancer, which is horribly innaccurate. I have 4 cancer survivors in my immediate family. If you really are an RN, you should know what you are talking about before you post something that could be totally devastating to someone diagnosed with cancer. Yes there are side effects to chemo drugs, but patients are told of those before they start any treatment regimen. You have obviously been affected by someone's death and I am sorry for that. But there are constantly new treatments and drugs( yes, they are expensive, but they save lives) because of people donating their time and money to this cause. If you want nothing to do with helping, fine, but don't scare people who may have cancer, or discourage people who want to help...

I think it would have been appropriate to tell Kevin, since Elizabeth is his biological daughter and he has taken more than a little responsibility for her. But that should have been done in private, not over the dinner table.

I understand somewhat...she is just concerned about her kids...sometimes we all make the wrong move...but she should have tried to hold back her opinions and allow Tommy to tell everyone at his own pace. Tommy is kind of cute but a real pain in the. What I really want to know is where can I get eyeglass frames like the ones Holly had on? They are pink...and I love them. Did anyone notice that the surrogate for Kevin and Scott is the real child of Holly and David?? I mean in real life not tv life!! Once I knew for sure you can really see the resemblance.

Yes, she absolutely did! Nora always acts so childish and immature. I don't like Tommy, but that is his personal business. She could of easily sat there, and ate dinner being pleasant. She had to make his problems about her. Nora sometimes is just too much to take!

Yes she did. I think if she wants to give him advice privately - fine. But it was not her place to bring it out in front of the whole family.

I for one wish that this "actor" was not welcomed back to the show. The affair that he had, leaving his wife and family, how could ABC forgive this behavior and allow him back on this show. I am hoping the show kills him off once and for all.

Im sorry but the actors personal life has nothing to do w/ his role on this show. You have to separate the two. As long as he's a good actor and does his job ..... his personal life is just that, PERSONAL. Now do I like or agree w/ what he did? No but I can separate Tommy from Balthazar.

OH MY! SINCE WHEN DOES ANY MEMBER OF THE WALKER FAMILY HAS ANY QUALMS ABOUT STICKING THEIR NOSES IN OTHER FAMILY MEMBER'S BUSINESS AND DIVULGING SECRETS, ETC.! NORA JUST DID WHAT NORA DOES BEST! AND THAT IS WHY WE LOVE THAT SHOW.

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED NORA IS ALWAYS A GREAT MOTHER.SHE DOES THE BEST FOR THE FAMILY, SHE IS ABLE TO ACCEP, UNDERSTAND AND SUPPORT EVEN HER HUSBAND'S CHILDREN.sHE IS THE BEST MOTHER OF ALL MOTHERS.

No. Tommy asked her to stay out of it. She should have respected his wishes.

cuteness_129

ABSOLUTELY NOT! The only reason she did is because she was upset about how it was going to affect HER. It wasn't because it was what was best for him or his family. She made her mistakes and her triumphs with her kids. It is no longer her place to be living their lives like she would if she were them. You raised them, you taught them, you did the best you knew how now let them go! For heavens sake!

I feel the same as other posters so far. Tommy is an adult - he needs to deal with his own problems, and he also has the right of deciding if and when to tell the rest of his family members. Nora could discuss it privately with him, but the dinner table scene was too much. It's ridiculous to see an adult woman behave that way in front of her children and especially her grandchildren. I rarely agree with Robert, but in this case I do: she needs a filter.

Absolutely she did!!! I was so uncomfortable during that scene. That was the most out of line Nora has ever been. I can honestly say I LOVE this show. I however, am VERY sick of EVERY family get together being a catastrophe. Just once, only once, I don't know maybe a season, can't they just have a happy family get together??? It's boring when it's predictable. It's boring when it's the same EVERY time. I thought the fact that they used Kitty to convince Tommy to return to Elizabeth ingenious. A perfect way to snap his attention to the fact that he had to take advantage of his chance to be a dad to his daughter. Not every parent will have that chance and he was being a coward.

No, Nora should have stayed out. It's Tommy's mess. If she had issues with it, she should have CONFRONTED him one-on-one and not be dropping hints that made everyone worry. That was plain childish.

whisperingone

No, I think Tommy is acting like a spoiled brat! Nora is his mother and she deserves to know what's going on- especially because his daughter is technically not just his.

energizerbayer

I agree Tommy was wrong and Nora had a right to express her opinion, but to do it in such a childish way at the dinner table in front of the whole family when it was so obvious he didn't want everyone to know. That was immature of her.
