I think that she likes the fact that he has a fun side. Her work is so serious all the time, working to solve murders that are gruesome at the least. She herself hides her playside in order to stay focused and tough. As a woman in a man's world she has to be thought of seriously by her peers. Castle on the other hand is a writer of fiction, based on events in the real world but with poetic license to be a fanciful as he wants to be. As a man who is successful in his career as a writer, rich and part of the rich and powerful in crowd , he can show his less serious side any time the mood hits him. He is very attracted to Beckett because she personifies his main character. She brings Nikki Heat to life. They are both attracted to each other and that is what makes the program different from the other cop shows on TV this season.

I don't think "prefers" is the right word to use here. I do think she likes him the way he is, and has always sensed he has a more responsible side, but I thought it was important for Beckett to see him like that. She sees it out in the open and it's even a better reason to like him! I live for this show. I love it so much!!!!!

Absolutely not. Despite her seeming constant complaints, I think that Beckett enjoys the humor and child-like energy that Castle brings to her life. Earlier in the series, her ex flame asked if she had told Castle how his novels had helped her get past the death of her Mother. Despite dual demeanor when dealing with Castle, partly infuriated and partly tolerant, Beckett is an extremely guarded woman. I think she believes that if she lets her feelings toward Castle, whether they be related to any potential romantic emotional ties; or the strong ties of friendship and camaraderie, she will in a position of vulnerability. Something that Beckett would avoid at all costs. Having said that, Castle's antics bring something to Beckett's life that she has been missing, a sense of enjoyment, fun and the reminder that it's the bright parts of life that make it worth facing the obstacles and pain that life throws at us.

I think that Beckett thinks she likes the more serious Castle, but secretly she likes the fact that he is not serious all the time and can have fun. He brings fun into her life, which can get depressing from the cases she works on.

i think it could go both ways with her she likes this sexual tension between them as its easily seen but then again the mature side of castle strangly arouses her insteses of him so she likes both sides of him!

i personally think she likes both sides. he sometimes doesn't always use them at the best of times. but he does have his moments. you can't help but appreciate the clown in him. and the parental as well. makes the man that much more attractive. to see a man with dimensions is seldom shown on t.v. plus castle is gorgeous !!!!!!

i agree with everyone else. Beckett secretly likes the immature, fun side of Castle, because it allows her to have fun in a job that forces her to be serious. and the fact that he can be an adult and be mature is a bonus!

Yes, I actually think that she likes his more "fatherly" side. It shows that he takes responsibility for his daughter and that he cares about her opinions. It also shows that he can be mature when he needs to be. I like the more "fatherly" side of him too.
