ABC Celebrates Back to the Future Day - October 21, 2015

By Micheline Goldstein | Oct 20th, 2015

Celebrate Back to the Future Day with ABC! October 21, 2015 is the date Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) traveled to the future in the movie Back to the Future II, and now that day has arrived! The stars of some of your favorite ABC shows, including Castle's very own Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), Once Upon a Time's Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), and The Goldbergs's resident Back to the Future devotee Adam "I rode a hoverboard!!!" Goldberg (Sean Giambrone), keep the spirit of Marty and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) alive with references to the classic time travel movies.

The video below features some of the best ABC Back to the Future moments, including Castle citing Back to the Future while solving a crime and Emma from Once Upon a Time discussing the movie (well, trying...) with Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), who has not only not seen the (any?) movie, but suggests the time-traveling McFly might be a wizard.

Watch these moments and more in "ABC Goes Back to the Future," now!

The video also features the time Adam from The Goldbergs tried to explain an embarrassing injury by claiming it happened during a much-cooler hoverboard accident. Adam was likely emboldened by Back to the Future II director Robert Zemeckis, who actually furthered a conspiracy theory regarding the existence of hoverboards in a behind-the-scenes featurette, claiming that they were real but manufacturers wouldn't make them due to safety concerns.

And from Mistresses, Josslyn Carver (Jes Macallan) is headed out for a night on the town with her boss, Olivier, who just happens to be a big Back to the Future fan. Of course, he rented a DeLorean!

So, will we see any of the films' predictions for the future come true? Should we rush out and bet it all on the Chicago Cubs to win the 2015 World Series? Probably not. But 2015 marks the 1985 original's 30th anniversary, which means we're celebrating 30 years of Doc Brown, Marty McFly, and DeLorean jokes, and plenty more to look forward to, right here on ABC.
