Lights! Camera! Dancing! The teams took on Tinseltown during Hollywood Week. Here are some highlights from a night that had several stars shining indoors!
Dance of the Night: Brant spent most of his rehearsal time in a boot due to an injury. That didn’t stop him from kicking it into high gear come show time. His quickstep with Peta got trip 9s from the judges. Corbin and Nicole also did some fine quicksteps during the night, but the fact that Brant was playing in pain gave him the edge. Check him out:
Who Was That Masked Man?: It wasn’t Armie Hammer. It wasn’t Clayton Moore. It wasn’t even Klinton Spilsbury! (You can look that last one up.) No, it was Bill Engvall who had the crowd clapping along wildly during his high-spirited, Lone Ranger tribute. Len said it was his best routine, but what we like best was how he went over to kiss his wife after the dance. Well done, Ke-mo sah-bee. Well done.
Mistakes Happen: Valerie lost her way during her cha cha with Tristan. Len said, “It was like flying coach on a cheap airline. You were a little bit uncomfortable… a little bit bumpy… but you landed safely.” He did have praise for Tristan for how he takes care of his partner, who continues to inspire.
Dueling Charlestons: Team Amber and Team Christina both tackled the Charleston. Both did so with completely different styles. At the end of the night, Christina’s routine was just a tad sharper. Check it out:
Celeb Sightings: Once again, the entire Osbourne clan was in the front row cheering on the one member of their family who was up on stage. Kelly seemed especially giddy about seeing her brother, Jack, in fluorescent pink. It was like a dream come true for her.
Nye, Robot: After a serious injury forced him to immobilize one of his legs, Bill Nye, the never-say-die Science Guy, still braved the dance floor. He said, “People don’t regret what they do. They regret what they don’t do.” His partner, Tyne, designed a dance where the ailing star’s robotic movements were just part of the story. See him in action:
The Quotes Are In:
Hot Dish: Len (after Elizabeth’s foxtrot): “That was chicken soup to the eyes.”
Tom: “You tend to focus sometimes on what you did wrong.”
Tom: “No, wrong.”
Leah: “Yeah, that’s right. You’re not wrong.”
Straight Talk: After Leah’s sexy rumba with Tony, Tom Bergeron noticed that Bruno was already getting hot and bothered. See just how deeply the dance affected him:
Bye-Bye Bill Nye: Even though we had to say bye-bye to a highly-entertaining science guy, the remaining dancers hope their efforts were good enough to keep them in the hunt for that coveted Mirrorball Trophy. Take another quick look at all of the night’s dances:
