Last week’s shocking elimination of Christina and Mark had the remaining teams realizing that no one is on solid ground. Throw in an improvised dance in what was dubbed a Switch-Up Challenge and it was a tension-filled evening with an ending no one saw coming. Let’s dive in to the report for Week 6 of Season 17, aka the halfway point, of Dancing with the Stars.
Her Name is Elizabeth, She was a Showgirl: Elizabeth Berkley Lauren certainly dealt with an enormous amount of backlash after she made the movie Showgirls. We saw a little glimpse of how much it hurt her and how she felt she wouldn’t get to do what she loved anymore, which is perform and dance. Those days are long gone as evidenced by her flawless cha cha. Watch the first perfect dance of the season now:
Come Monday, It’ll Be All Right: Emma Slater is from the medieval town of Tamworth, England. Look on any map and you’ll see that her home is a long way from Margaritaville. Guess that’s why she wasn’t familiar with the classic Jimmy Buffett tune “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Still, Emma stepped out of Bill’s Burger Hut to do a colorful tango with her partner. Bruno thought Bill lost some smoothness in his footwork, but only during those moments when he was searching for his lost shaker of salt.
Celeb Sightings: Jennifer Lopez stopped by to visit her friend, Leah Remini, during rehearsals to remind her pal how much fun dancing can be as you’ll see in the clip below. Her pep talk worked, as Leah got trip 9s in what Len called her “best dance.” Janel Parrish also popped by rehearsals to visit her Pretty Little Liars pal, Brant. Her visit helped, too. Brant got a 10 from Len!
Pushy, Pushy: After getting her highest and lowest paddle score from the judges last week in the same dance, Amber was pushed hard by partner, Derek, during rehearsals. See how it all worked out for her with her pulse-pounding, gyrating, sexy samba in the clip below and ask yourself, what's Len's deal with these two?!:
The Quotes Are In:
Bruno: Plenty of beef on top, but you went a bit cheesy on the bottom (after Bill Engvall’s tango to “Cheeseburger in Paradise”).
Tom: So I can get one hamburger pun in here… You’re saying he was in-and-out of step?
Carrie Ann: Tonight you were like a white panther (to Elizabeth after her cha cha).
Bruno: The Prince Charming has turned into the Prince of Darkness. You never knew if he was going to kiss you or bite you (after Brant’s tango).
Len: Can I just say that one out three people is always slightly deranged (speaking about Bruno after he criticized Brant’s tango).
Len: Why don’t you boo now? Get it over with. (before he called Amber’s samba “repetitive”).
Different Worlds: Well, you couldn’t get two more different routines to wrap up the individual performance of the night than Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s foxtrot to “Build Me Up Buttercup” to Corbin Bleu’s homage to Game of Thrones.
Switch Is It: The first-ever live improvisational Switch-Up Challenge saw Team Corbin and Team Amber win the day. Now let’s relive all the dances of the night:
No one was eliminated during this week’s show, so the competition is sure to be twice as intense next time around. See you then!
