Comedian Bill Engvall wants to dance, avoid the scorn of his friends and become the Redneck Dancing King.
Bill Engvall is a Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling recording artist and one of the top comedians in the country. Currently, Engvall can be heard on the animated comedy series Bounty Hunters, airing on CMT. He previously starred in, and executive produced, the TBS sitcom The Bill Engvall Show.
Engvall was part of the enormously successful Blue Collar Comedy concert films, which sold over 9 million units and received a Grammy nomination. He also starred on the WB’s hit sketch comedy show Blue Collar TVand in several solo specials for Comedy Central. In 2012 he reunited with Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy on the Them Idiots Whirled Tour, which aired as a special on CMT. Engvall’s first album, Here’s Your Sign, is certified platinum and held the #1 position on the Billboard Comedy Chart for 15 straight weeks. His second album, Dorkfish,also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Comedy Chart, as did his subsequent comedy albums.Engvall has written several books, including his 2007 autobiography Bill Engvall –Just A Guy.
A native of Galveston, Texas, Engvall moved to Dallas and worked as a disc jockey with plans of becoming a teacher. While in a nightclub one evening, he tried his hand at stand-up comedy and found that making people laugh was truly his forte. Soon after, he moved to Los Angeles and went on to star in the Showtime special, A Pair of Jokers, hosted A&E’s Evening at the Improv and appeared on The Tonight Show and Late Show with David Letterman. In 1992, Engvall won the American Comedy Award for Best Male Stand-up Comedian. He appeared in several episodes of Designing Women and co-starred in Delta and The Jeff Foxworthy Show.
Engvall resides in Southern California with his family.
Emma is from Tamworth, a medieval town in the centre of England. She started dancing at the age of five when she joined a local stage school. Emma was immediately hooked on theatre and took part in a number of local productions.
Emma continued her stage and film career featuring in a George Michael music video ("Round Here") filmed on location in London. She also featured in Lilia Kopylova’s fitness video "Latinasize" with Lilia. In 2005, aged just 16, Emma joined the cast of Simply Ballroom touring the UK (Including London’s West End) United Arab Emirates and South Africa, where she appeared on SA Strictly Come Dancing. Later that year Emma and her partner won the 2005 British Under 21 Latin American Championship at Blackpool, England. Now representing England at all levels and ranked in the worlds top 20, Emma followed this success by winning the 2006 United Kingdom Under 21 Latin American Championships at Bournemouth, England.
Towards the end of 2007 Emma featured in the Universal Pictures movie Mamma Mia. Emma played one of Sophie’s (Amanda Seyfried) friends and also sang on the Grammy nominated soundtrack for the movie.
After Mamma Mia, Emma joined the cast of Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End directed by James Powell. Emma was the Feature Latin Dancer, she also understudied and played the principal role of Lisa Houseman.
Emma continued her experience of London’s West End with the shows ‘Cheek to Cheek’ at the Coliseum, also ‘Latin Fever’ at The Peacock Theatre, West End and Symphony Hall Birmingham. In 2009 Emma joined Burn The Floor initially for the China tour 2009. However later that year Emma joined the cast at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway, New York City. In between the residency on Broadway and the world tour Emma found time to appear on ITV1’s Popstars to Operastars three times becoming the programme ballroom advisor. At the beginning of 2010 Emma started the Burn the Floor world tour dates including Australia, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Florida, New Zealand, West End London, a nine month USA multi-city tour (including Hollywood LA), Belgium, Holland and UK.
In early 2012 Emma joined ABC’s prime time show Dancing with the Stars Season 14 in USA - dancing in the Troupe and Choreographing, Emma appeared on all episodes in season 14 including the final. In total Emma danced 15 numbers for the hit TV show.
In the early Summer of 2012 Emma continued her creative work by choreographing Usher at the prestigious 2012 Billboard American Music Awards, Live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
After DWTS season 14 finished Emma joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars Las Vegas, hosted at the wonderful Tropicana - Las Vegas Strip.
