It’s a new season of Dancing with the Stars! And, can I just say how glad I am to be able to watch this season from my TV screen? Not that it wasn’t an amazing experience (twice!), but my feet are still boycotting high heels! But this season proves to be pretty competitive. There’s a battle of the country stars, the gold medalists, the comedians, and the TV personalities! Let’s break it down:
Lisa Vanderpump & Gleb Savchenko – Let’s start with the new Pro name: Gleb. I don’t know much about him…but he's easy on the eyes, so I like the addition already. Now, I have to admit that I am a HUGE Housewives fan! I watch the entire franchise pretty religiously, and I’ve been waiting for a Housewife to make a dancing appearance. Can I tell you how excited I am to see Lisa? She’s funny, she’s snarky, and she carries her pocket-sized pooch everywhere!! Maybe we’ll see her get jiggy with Giggy this season!
Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough – Now be honest, who doesn’t like Kellie Pickler? And she’s the first American Idol alum that DWTS has ever had competing on the show. On top of that, she has the most decorated Pro as her partner! I think the mix of Derek’s personality and Kellie’s quirky personality will really make this couple one to watch!
Andy Dick & Sharna Burgess - I have to start with Sharna, another new addition to the Pro team this season. Sharna joins the cast from the Troupe, and I personally got to work with her last season during the Finale and can I say, she is amazing. Out of the new pros this season, she’s the one I’m most excited to see. And to start her career with someone like Andy Dick is pretty cool! I’m not sure how fancy his footwork will be, but I can’t wait to see all the shenanigans he pulls behind the scenes! He’s known to be a bit of…a loose cannon, let’s say, and you add that to the live TV factor, and this could be a recipe for great TV!
Dorothy Hamill & Tristan MacManus – All you children of the 80’s, let’s celebrate! I was too young, but who didn’t sport the Dorothy Hamill Wedge Cut? Back in the day, she was in tip-top form and such a dynamic performer. It has, however, been a year or two (ahem…) since she was in her prime, so she’s one I’m particularly excited to see. I love a good comeback! And maybe we’ll finally get to see what Tristan’s got up his sleeves in terms of choreography—he’s made some early exits in the past, so this just may be his golden ticket (or medal) to go far in the competition!
Wynonna Judd & Tony Dovolani – Wynonna is perhaps the most well-known name on the cast this season. And let’s be honest, we all know how far a name alone can take you on the show! If I were to guess, I’d say that regardless of her dance ability, she’ll be around for a while. I asked on Twitter and Facebook who everyone was most excited to see, and Wynonna’s name came up more than anyone else’s did…Marinate on that for a bit.
Jacoby Jones & Karina Smirnoff – He’s got some big footsteps to fill! Following Donald Driver, Emmitt Smith, Jason Taylor, Warren Sapp, and Hines Ward (and those were just the winners and runners up!), there are already some high expectations for Jacoby in this competition.
Aly Raisman & Mark Ballas – Let me just say from some firsthand experience, these little Olympic gymnasts are tough! If Aly proves to be anything like my little powerhouse Shawn was, this cast needs to get their game faces on! Being an Olympian (a gold medalist to give all due credit) automatically means she’s coming in with extreme focus, a great work ethic, perfectionist attitude, and a body that can challenge the muscles of almost anyone!
D.L. Hughley & Cheryl Burke – Hi-lar-ious! I can’t wait to see his rehearsal footage, because I bet he will be joking around all the time! And that, honestly, is the best attitude to have in this competition. Now, I’m not sure how up-to-ballroom-date his dance skills are, but Cheryl has always proven to be an excellent (yet sometimes scary/tough!) teacher. I think with his personality and Cheryl’s choreography, these guys might just surprise us all.
Victor Ortiz & Lindsay Arnold – Another new Pro! Lindsay joins the cast from So You Think You Can Dance (like dancers Lacey and Chelsie), and I love the new addition! I was a fan of hers on SYTYCD, and I think she’ll bring such a great, new energy to the competition. And what a great first partner to have! Victor is not only in peak physical shape, but he’s got charisma that is challenged by few! These guys could be the surprise of the season – I think they’ll knockout the competition!
Ingo Rademacher & Kym Johnson – The soap stud and the Aussie beauty! What a great pairing. I have to be completely honest, I’ve never really watched soap operas, so Ingo is probably the cast member I know the least about, but I still can’t wait to see these guys on the dance floor. Kym has always been one of my favorite Pros, and I’m curious about what Ingo will bring to the dance floor. Both Ingo and Kym have dazzling baby blues, rockin’ bodies, and have accents to swoon over…So far, I like the recipe.
Zendaya & Val Chmerkovskiy – Who doesn’t love a Disney darling? And Zendaya is already a triple threat – she sings, she acts, and she dances. And the lone remaining Chmerkovskiy brother became a quick fan favorite last season, making it all the way to the finals. I can’t wait to see if this little Disney beauty can Shake it Up on the dance floor!
So there we have it, folks! A new season, a new cast, and some new faces! I love that you never know what to expect with this show! Heck, at the start of last season, Tony and I had 70-1 odds of winning according to Vegas…and look what happened! You really just never know, and that’s what’s great about it. I guess all we can say is, buckle up! It’s going to be another crazy ride.
