Q. Why did you want to do the show?
A. For years, I have wanted to be a contestant, but the timing has never worked out. One thing that I love about the show is that it helps build confidence, and I’ve always wanted to be that person at the party who can jump on the dance floor and rock the Salsa or the Rumba. Also, Dancing with the Stars is my Grandpa Ken's favorite show, and when he found out that I was asked to be a contestant he told me that if I didn't do it then I wasn't his favorite grandchild anymore! The funny thing is, I am his ONLY grandchild!
Q. Which dance style do you think is most "you"?
A. To be honest, since I’ve never had any kind of formal dance lessons, I wouldn’t know which dance style is most like me but that’s one of things I’m most excited about. People would be surprised that even though I’ve spent a lot of time in honky-tonks-- either performing and just having fun --that I don’t even know how to do the two-step!
Q. What do you think is your biggest handicap to overcome if you’re going to win?
A. Since I’m currently in the middle of recording my fourth album and still touring regularly, I think learning the dances in a limited amount of available time is going to by my biggest obstacle and handicap. I’m hopeful that my dance partner likes to travel and can come to wherever I am out on the road to practice with me. I admire anyone who is willing to step out of their comfort zone and put themselves out there for the world to judge…especially while learning something new like ballroom dancing.
A. I remember watching Julianne Hough when she was one of the pro-dancers and thinking, “she’s such a beautiful and amazing dancer and so much fun to watch.”
Q. Is there a particular dance/dance style that you most fear?
A. If it’s not a line-dance then I’m worried!
