Dancing with the Stars: Vote FAQ

Got questions? We've got answers!

1. How does the show work this season?
During the live show every Monday night for the Spring 2015 season, the stars will dance their hearts out. Then, fans like you vote for your favorite dancers. Your votes will be combined with the judges scores, and the following week, the pair with the lowest combination of votes and scores will be eliminated.

The scoring and format of the show is unique to the series and is not based on a standard dance championship. The competition is governed by the Official Rules made available to each couple; the summary here is for informational purposes only.

2. So how do I vote?
We have three convenient ways for you to keep your favorite stars dancing. You can vote by phone or do it online, either at ABC.com or on Facebook at http://apps.facebook.com/votedwts. You have to be 18 years old and in the U.S. to vote on ABC.com…sorry, tweens and international fans!

3. When exactly can I vote?
Phone voting begins during the show on Mondays, and is open until 60 minutes after the conclusion of that show in your local time zone.

Online voting at both ABC.com and Facebook opens each Monday when the show begins on the East Coast at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) and stays open until 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) the next day. During the season’s eighth, ninth and tenth weeks, online voting will open when the show begins on the East Coast at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) and will stay open until 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) the following morning.

5. What if I want to vote online? Anything in particular I need to do first?

To vote at ABC.com, a username and a valid email address are a must. We've hopefully made the process pretty easy for you. In fact, if you already have a Facebook account, you can sign in with that, connect it to an ABC account and you're ready to go. If you don't have a Facebook account, you can simply sign up for an ABC account at ABC.com.

The Internet browser on user computers must allow cookies, have Javascript enabled and have the latest version of Flash installed in order to vote. If cookies and Javascript are disabled and Flash is not installed, users will be unable to access the online ballot.

To vote via Facebook, go here: http://apps.facebook.com/votedwts. You will need to have pop-up blockers turned off for Facebook and authorize the Dancing with the Stars voting app.

6. Multiple members of my household would like to vote. Can they?
Sure -- the more the merrier! Just make sure to log out and clear your browser cookies after you finish voting, then have your other household members log in with their Facebook or ABC.com accounts. It's perfectly fine to vote on the same computer.

7. How does America’s Choice voting work?

The vote will take place on ABC.com using Twitter, so you’ll need a public Twitter account to vote on the America’s Choice dance style and song choice options. Any tweets from a private account will not be counted. You can influence the couples’ performance by voting at the America's Choice page on ABC.com which will generate a valid tweet for you.

You can vote as often as you’d like until voting closes

8. I have an existing ABC account, why do I need to validate my email address?
The short answer is that we've changed our registration system for the better. When you log into your ABC account, you will be sent a confirmation email. Just click on the link inside. Once your account is validated, you're all set to vote for the season. We recommend you validate your account now so you're ready to roll come Dancing premiere night. You can sign in at the top of the page to validate your account.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the validation email to be delivered, so give it a few minutes. Also, be sure to check your "spam" folder to make sure the email didn't land there.

9. Help! I forgot my username and/or password.
Fear not! We can help. Head to the vote page—don't worry if voting's open or not—and click "sign in." Links to recover your username and/or password are just below the "password" field.

10. How do I change the email address associated with my account?
Once you're logged in, click on "profile" to manage all of your profile settings including resetting your password and changing the email address associated with your account.
