Aaron ShorePlayed by Adan Canto
Adan Canto stars as Aaron Shore on Designated Survivor. He made his American television debut in 2013 as a series regular in the Kevin Williamson drama The Following, in which he played Paul Torres, a damaged individual seeking acceptance as part of a cringe-worthy cult headed by serial killer Joe Carroll. Canto starred in the Fox drama alongside Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy, Shawn Ashmore, Jessica Stroup and Natalie Zea.
Canto's additional television credits include a guest-star role on the Golden Globe-nominated Netflix series, Narcos, playing Minister of Justice Rodrigo Lara, and, in January 2016, Canto wrapped a recurring role on Fox's Second Chance, alongside Rob Kazinsky and Adhir Kalyan.
He has appeared in ABC's Blood and Oil, the NBC pilot Curse of the Fuentes Women, Amazon's Hysteria. In 2014 Canto was a series regular on the ABC comedy on Mixology.
Canto has starred in various films, including being cast as Sunspot in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, with Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.
Canto has appeared on stage starring in the play Todo Sobre Mi Madre, an adaptation of Pedro Almodovar's Oscar-‐winning film. The play was first adapted for the London Theater and was later translated into Spanish and performed in Mexico. Canto played Mario Del Toro, a playful actor portraying the role of Stanley Kowalsky in A Streetcar Named Desire (as a play within the play).
Canto has appeared in numerous Mexican television series and films, including Amar No Es Querer, Casi 30, the 2009 Panamax thriller Sin Memoria and Te Presento a Laura. He was a series regular on Estado De Gracia for Canal Once (Mexico's equivalent of the BBC Channel) and guest starred on Los Minondo and Me Mueves, also for Canal Once.
Canto made his film debut at age nine in Like Water for Chocolate.
Other than acting, Canto's other passion is music. Growing up with his artistic mother, he became a professional singer at 16. Canto formed the Delcanto Jazz Band in 2011, which has an established fan base in Mexico. The band stays true to the classic sounds with a Frank Sinatra feel to many of the songs. Canto also wrote and composed original songs, including "Me Cuesta Vivir," which was featured in the film Te Presento a Laura.
Canto hails from the small town of Acuña Mexico, across the border from Del Rio, Texas. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
