Actor Biography

Kirby Howell-Baptiste was born and raised in London, England. Kirby was first enrolled in acting classes at the Anna Scher Theatre (now known as the Young Actors Theatre) by her mother at the age of 12. Upon leaving secondary school, Kirby starred in "Echoic," a devised West End play with the Talawa Theatre Company, Britain's foremost black-led theatre company. Kirby's passion then led her to study acting at the East 15 Acting School, and then to Los Angeles, to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

Kirby Howell Baptiste is currently a series regular on the ABC comedy Downward Dog and a recurring character on the Judd Apatow/Netflix series LOVE. She will soon be seen in a leading role in the upcoming DreamWorks live action feature A Dog's Purpose, directed by Lasse Hallstrom.

Her past credits include a series regular on the ABC pilot The King of 7B, alongside Craig Ferguson, House of Lies and Comedy Bang! Bang! She has also written for both the stage and TV.

Kirby is an active member of the UCB Theatre LA and performs weekly with her house team.

Kirby is a vegan and an environmentalist, and in her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and traveling around California. She is also a keen crafter with a budding curiosity for woodworking.
