Didiayer's Toy Chest Purse

Materials:
- Carpenter's pencil
- 1 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood
- Wood glue
- 1-inch screws – approximately 20
- 1-inch nails for nail gun
- Staples for staple gun
- 2 hinges
- 2 wing nuts
- Light sand paper for sander
- Bondo
- Batting
- Desired paint
- Desired material
- 2 wooden circles
- Colorful handbag strap

Tools Needed:
- Saw
- Staple Gun
- Nail Gun
- Paint scraper
- Sander
- Paintbrush
- Drill
- Scissors

Procedure
  1. Determine how large you would like the toy chest to be. Using your carpenter's pencil, draw out the "purse" pattern onto your sheet of plywood by laying out the front, back, bottom, and two sides. Using your saw cut out all pieces, and then glue and nail together. Drill 1-inch screws in around the base and sides for strength.
  2. Next you will want to create the lid (the top of the purse) – cut lid to desired size. To add depth to the "purse" look, cut out four pieces at 3 inches wide to fit the size of the chest and glue and nail to lid.
  3. Attach the lid to the chest by screwing two hinges (left and right) of the chest to the purse lid.
  4. Using a paint scraper apply bondo to all screw and nail holes and let dry to touch. Then sand. You will only need to sand the lid as the base of the purse toy chest is batted and wrapped in desired fabric.
  5. Now comes the fun part! Paint the lid as well as the inside of the chest, making sure you don't get paint on the hinges. Once it is dry, staple batting then desired fabric on all four sides of the bottom half of the chest.
  6. For the finishing touches – paint the two wooden balls a different color from the lid so that they stand out (you can buy these and your handbag handle from most leading art supply stores). To secure them to the lid, drill down the center and through the lid of the chest. Feed your wing nut through the ball then lid and tighten into place. Attach your decorative handle as your final touch.
