A woman takes in her dead sister’s children—all ten of them—in order to keep the family together. But with four kids of her own already under her roof, she is unable to afford the much-needed major renovations on her home.
Ty and the crew swing into Rockville, Maryland, where we learn that Felicia Jackson made a promise in 2004 at her sister Cassandra’s deathbed that she wouldn’t let her ten nieces and nephews be split up and put into foster care. Jackson, a mall security guard, suddenly went from being a single mother of four to a single mother of 14.
However, we soon find out that this family of 15 has been living in a hotel since December, as Felicia can’t afford permanent housing. Even more devastating news is to come; Felicia is told that she’ll have to split the children up within the foster care system if she doesn’t find appropriate housing soon.
Thankfully, the community gets behind her and the county deeds Felicia a piece of land with a house. But major renovations are needed, and they’re ones she can’t afford while raising 14 growing children.
Enter Ty and the designers, who send Felicia and the kids to Walt Disney World while the needed repairs are made to help this courageous and loving mother fulfill her sister’s dying wish.
But the joy doesn’t end there; Washington Redskins player Chris Cooley offers a special gift to the Jacksons, while Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson passes along a heartwarming message of inspiration for the family in this endearing episode.
