Frisch Family
Season 6 | Episode 608 | Aired 11/15/2008

Years ago, an Ohio couple simply wanted to give a set of orphans a better life. Now they’ve found themselves heading up a family of 13 in a cramped, one-story home.

It’s off to Toledo for Ty and the crew, where we meet ordained minister Jackie Frisch. After visiting Haiti on a mission trip, she and her firefighter husband Aaron agreed to give five boys from an orphanage a chance at a new life by adopting them.

But the Frisch family’s generosity didn’t stop there. Over the years, Jackie and Aaron continued to adopt three more children, this time from Toledo’s inner city. With three biological children and eight adopted children, this big-hearted family of 13 has now wound up living in a tight-quartered single-story home without air conditioning.

We’re disheartened to learn that Jackie has been diagnosed with a soft tissue disease called Ehrlers-Danlos Syndrome. Her ailment was tragically compounded when, following several surgeries, she suffered a series of strokes that left half of her body paralyzed.

As a firefighter and paramedic for Toledo’s Fire and Rescue Department, we realize Aaron has saved many lives—including his rescue partner’s during the Toledo riots in October 2005. Now he needs help from Ty and his designers to save his own family’s home.

As if the EM:HE crew wasn’t enough, we’re moved to see Hewlett Packard step up to help by donating new TouchSmart PCs for the boys’ specially-designed computer room in this inspiring episode.
