An American hero sacrificed his own health and well-being in the line of duty. But upon returning home, he had to endure another devastating battle—one between Mother Nature and his family’s house.
Ty clues us in on Patrick Tutwiler, a soldier who was shot in the neck by an Iraqi sniper and returned home with a brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, memory loss and speech problems.
As if that weren’t enough, we find out that less than a year later, the Tutwilers’ modest house was hit by an F4 tornado. We can hardly believe it when hearing that Patrick and his wife Crystal pulled their four children into a closet and used their own bodies as human shields while the violent storm tore their home apart.
Patrick, Crystal, their four kids and their nephew found themselves temporarily living on a nearby military base until Patrick was given his official military discharge. Sadly, because of his injuries and his current part-time employment, the family cannot afford to rebuild or purchase a new house.
Now it is up to Ty and the design crew—along with hundreds of hospitable volunteers—to build this dedicated soldier a safer and stronger place for him and his family to call home.
We’re treated to the added bonus of rock star Gavin Rossdale dropping by to perform his smash hit single “Love Remains The Same” for the Tutwilers at the reveal of their new house!
