  • Jones Family
    Season 4 | Episode 19 | Aired Apr/08/2007

Sabrena Jones is a single mother raising three children -- 18-year-old Marjon, 17-year-old Mardaireus and 9-year-old Marjiya. As a practicing nurse at a local hospital, Sabrena has never had time to focus on herself. Using her background in nursing, she opened up a medical apparel shop which, after financial setbacks, she now runs out of her living room. In addition to this, she runs her own clothing donation center, which led to Sabrena's being selected to serve on a Hurricane Katrina relief committee at her church. To date, her organization has supplied hundreds of thousands of dollars to families and organizations hurt by the devastating natural disaster. The Jones family put serving their community first; they involve themselves with such charitable organizations as Toys for Tots, Mission Mississippi and many more.

While she's out serving her community, Sabrena's house is falling apart. Without financial means, the Jones family have been unable to make the home repairs needed to bring the house up to par. Sabrena's children are her pride and joy and she always puts them first. Marjon, Mardaireus and Marjiya are hard working students and athletes who love their mother more than anything in the world. The rough living conditions have not set them back, but repair to their house would certainly improve their lives!

In this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Ty and the gang will build Sabrena and her family the home of their dreams, where they can all live comfortably and have some extra space to run a business and help out people in need.

While Ty and the designers, local builder Shoemaker Homes and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home in just seven days, the Jones family will go on vacation in Florida.

  • Westbrook Family
    Season 4 | Episode 20 | Aired Apr/22/2007

Gene Westbrook, the father of three children -- Elizabeth, Katie and James -- volunteered to fight in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was left paralyzed and received a purple heart. After being medically discharged from the military, he devoted his time to speaking about his experiences and helping others in his town. Along with his wife, Peggy, they are respected members of a close knit community, but Gene had to jump through many hoops just to be able to afford a handicapped-accessible van that allowed him to drive.

On June 10, 2006, a year after Gene was paralyzed in Iraq, a second tragedy hit the Westbrooks. While on their way to a friend's house, the wheel of their van evidently became loose, causing Gene to drive across oncoming traffic and the vehicle to roll over in a ravine. The family doesn't remember much about the accident, but suffered serious injuries: Son James was paralyzed from the waist down, daughter Katie required surgery to remove one of her kidneys, and Gene broke his ankle and knee and now suffers from short-term memory loss. With over a million dollars in medical bills, the Westbrooks can't afford to make their house accessible for someone in a wheelchair, let alone two people. This double tragedy has been very tough on Peggy, though she has shown great courage in keeping the family together during their difficulties.

Gene is a hero, wounded fighting for his country; now it's up to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to make the Westbrook home safe and handicapped-accessible, and in turn give Gene and James the freedom that they so want back.

While Ty and the designers, local builder Ron Nance's The Oaks Development Company and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding the home in just seven days, the Westbrook family will go away to a non-profit organization called the Lakeshore Foundation.

  • Collins Family
    Season 4 | Episode 21 | Aired Apr/29/2007

Kim and Dennis Collins believe that there's nothing more important than family. When tragedy stuck in the form of a car accident that killed Kim's favorite cousin and her husband, Kim and Dennis took hold of the situation. They fought hard for two years to take custody over the cousin's five children, not wanting them to become separated by the foster care system

No strangers to tragedy themselves, the Collins' own son, Mitchell, survived a rare form of brain cancer when he was just three years old that left him hearing and mentally impaired. Like his father and mother, Mitchell, now 18, also helps others in need. This July, with the help of his community, he collected pop tabs to raise money for young cancer patients in the Arkansas Children's hospital, gathering 300 pounds of tabs, the most in Arkansas.

The Collins' house is full of love -- but also many problems: Their living space has become overcrowded, they don't have the financial means to get the proper additions to their house, and they're constantly facing problems with flooding and insulation.

This family never thinks twice about lending a helping hand to others, so now it's time for Ty and the rest of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew to create a home that's large enough for the six children to comfortably grow up in.

While Ty and the designers, local builder Realsteel Homes and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home, the Collins family will go on vacation to Walt Disney World.

  • Kilgallon Family
    Season 4 | Episode 22 | Aired May/06/2007

After her divorce, Marynoel Kilgallon decided to create a better environment for her four children by purchasing a house that was a "fixer upper." As a woman working two jobs and struggling to make ends meet, that was all that she could afford. She thought that a new coat of paint and a woman's touch could make the place a lovely home. But despite her measures to ensure that she'd bought a safe house, it began to fail on her.

While pulling up the carpet, she noticed termite damage. Then the ceiling wall began to crumble. Marynoel got a structural engineer to assess the damage, and it was determined that the house was unsafe for habitation. This left her without many choices, so Marynoel decided to move into her parents' dining room. On top of that, she is still paying a hefty mortgage, insurance and electricity on a house she can't live in.

The Kilgallon family has shown great resolve and courage in dealing with all this adversity. On this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, it's up to Ty and the gang to create new and safe home that will provide a loving environment for Marynoel and her four boys.

While Ty and the designers, local builder McGrath Homes and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home, the Kilgallon family will go on vacation to Walt Disney World.

  • Jacobo Family
    Season 4 | Episode 23 | Aired May/13/2007

Michelle and Jesus Jacobo are hard-working parents that have sacrificed everything to keep their family together. In addition to having four children of their own, they took in their five nieces and nephews after Michelle's sister lost custody of the children. The Jacobos made room for them in their small home so that they wouldn't be lost to the foster care system. Michelle's father, Grandpa Ray, is also living in the house and helping raise the nine children, who range in age from 6 months to 18 years.

Jesus tries his best to provide for his family by working over 80 hours a week as an assembler of cranes. Michelle, who is pre-diabetic and has recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol, is a hard-working housewife. Both Jesus and Michelle sacrifice their own comfort by sleeping in their unheated garage. Three of the boys live in a basement hallway that is often flooded from the laundry room, and Grandpa Ray, who suffers from severe hip problems, sleeps on the hard floor. In one of the bedrooms, where there is no heat, it gets so cold that there's ice on the walls.

Since the Jacobo home is crumbling, the family is in danger of having their nieces and nephews taken away because of the condition of their home. In this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Ty and the gang will fix up the home so they can all stay together.

While Ty and the designers, local builder Kevin Green Homes and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home in just seven days, the Jacobo family will go on vacation at Hilton Fort Lauderdale.
