Hardwood Desk Topper

This was made out of a hardwood called walnut, a beautiful dark wood. It is meant to go on top of a desk for drawing and can be removed to use with a laptop. The base fits the laptop we put in the room.

Materials:
(2) 4'x 7"x3/4" boards of walnut.
Wood Glue
Clamps
Procedure:
1.) To begin, cut your boards to the desired lengths and widths for your desk. We took a few pieces and laminated them together.

2.) To laminate boards together, place a generous amount of glue and place one board on the other and clamp together and let set. If there is not a large amount of glue squeezing out of the sides you did not use enough.

3.) After the laminations have set, take off the clamps and sand uniform. We cut ours at a comfortable angle to use a computer. Find what angle works for you and cut your sides.

4.) Next, laminate the base to the sides. Do the same as before and use enough glue. Once it is finished, sand smooth and uniform.

5.) Lastly, we sprayed it with a clear, satin polyurethane. Let dry and then it is ready to use.
