Actor Biography

Vinnie Jones’ diversity as an actor has successfully spanned across film and television as well as a professional soccer career. With several independent features and television projects currently filming and in post-production as well as moving into producing and developing his own material, Jones plays King Richard’s henchman Gareth in the comedy extravaganza, “Galavant,” created by Dan Fogelman with music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater.

Vinnie’s career began when he was approached by director Guy Ritchie for a role in his cockney-caper movie, “Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels.” With the film’s success in both Europe and the US, Jones’ stock began to rise as well, leading him into major films such as the Guy Richie-directed “Snatch,” starring Brad Pitt, “Swordfish,” with John Travolta and Halle Berry, and the Touchstone Pictures hit actioner, “Gone in 60 Seconds,” opposite Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie. In 2006, Vinnie joined the iconic ranks of Marvel characters in the massive summer blockbuster, “X-Men 3: The Last Stand” as Cain Marko, better known as the Juggernaut.

Not to be typecast, Jones has also illustrated his range with comedies including “She’s The Man,” where he plays a scowling, yet likeable soccer coach, and Judd Apatow’s “Year One,” where he starred alongside Jack Black. To date, Vinnie has appeared in over 40 movies, working with some of the film industry’s top producers and directors including Mathew Vaughan, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Gary Lucchesi. Other notable films include “The Midnight Meat Train,” Mikael Håfström’s thriller “Escape Plan,” opposite Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Amy Ryan, Jim Caviezel, and Vincent D’Onofrio, and the Quentin Tarantino-produced feature “Hellride.”

This past year, Vinnie guest starred on “Elementary” for CBS and an episode of “Psych” for USA, as well as starring in his own documentary series for the National Geographic Channel titled “Vinnie Jones: Russia’s Toughest.” The show aired in prime time on September 2013 in over 170 countries to great success. In 2015, Jones will be seen in an upcoming three-episode arc on the hit series “Arrow.”

Vinnie’s professional soccer career included playing for some of the UK’s most prominent teams, including Wimbledon, Leeds, Chelsea, Sheffield and QPR. Known for rallying fans and spectators, Jones became iconic across the UK and Europe, not only for his skill with the ball, but also as a performer on the pitch, inspiring fans to their feet during games.

He continues to play soccer, combining his love for the game and with his love of the fans, heading a club called the Hollywood All-Stars based in Los Angeles, where he and his family now live. Comprised of athletes, movie stars and other celebrities, the heavily followed team entertains fans as Vinnie once did in professional stadiums.

He is also dedicated to the fight against heart disease and has been actively involved with The British Heart Foundation and was the face of their 2012 awareness campaign.
