Character Bio

LIKES:
Getting the best surgeries; Joe's bar; wrestling

DISLIKES:
Lying, in general; not getting any OR time; being told what to do

NOTABLE RELATIONSHIPS: Alex, once notoriously known as a bit of a womanizer, married Izzie Stevens before she abruptly left. He is currently single – after ending a rather undefined relationship with neonatal surgeon, Dr. Lucy Fields. Recently, after his intern, Morgan, gave birth to a premature baby, Alex forged a tight bond with the young mother, standing by her and providing care for the baby.

FAMILY:
Alex grew up watching his father, a musician and drug addict, physically abuse his mother. He became a wrestler in college and eventually channeled his pent-up anger towards his dad. Soon after, Alex's father disappeared.

OTHER:
Alex has demonstrated promise in pediatric surgery with Dr. Arizona Robbins, and has decided to pursue a career in pediatrics. During the hospital shootings, Alex was shot in the chest, and survived. He has since developed an outreach program at the hospital to help sick children in Africa receive surgical care. Most recently, Alex passed his boards and received an outstanding offer as a pediatrics fellow at Johns Hopkins University.

Actor Bio

Sure, Justin Chambers plays a sexy Seattle Grace resident on Grey’s Anatomy, but did you know he was first discovered on a subway in Paris? Oui, theece eez twue (we say with our sad-excuse-for-a French accent).

Chambers began his career as a professional model working throughout Europe, Japan and the U.S. with contracts at Calvin Klein and Armani, among others. But, he is an American born and raised—in Springfield, Ohio, to be exact.

Setting his sights on acting, Chambers moved to New York and studied for four years at H.B. Studios and Ron Stetson Studios. His training garnered him several television roles, including Another World, New York Undercover, Rose Hill, with Jennifer Garner, and Four Corners, with Ann-Margret.

Described as "part James Dean, part Marlon Brando" (Harper's Bazaar, 1998), Chambers got his big break when he was cast in his first feature film, Liberty Heights, directed by Barry Levinson. As a privileged but good-hearted troublemaker, he proved that he had the acting chops to hold his own opposite co-star Adrien Brody, and soon went on to play the lead role of D'Artagnan in Universal's action/adventure, The Musketeer. Additionally Chambers starred in the hit romantic comedy The Wedding Planner with Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, the thriller The Zodiac with Philip Baker Hall, and HBO's critically-acclaimed Hysterical Blindness, in which he played Uma Thurman's love interest.

Chambers currently resides in NY with his wife and five children.
