Disturbance in the Force
It just wouldn't be Grey's Anatomy if there wasn't at least a little drama for each character. One of the first situations April was involved in was when Chief Webber had to fire her after a mistake she made resulted in the death of a patient. Not to worry though, while Webber was on leave, the acting chief (Derek Shepherd) stepped in and rehired her.
It was a good thing Derek decided to hire her back because she was the one who comforted Meredith while Cristina operated on Derek during the shooting. Who knows what might have happened if April wasn't there to occupy her time.
If it's not one thing for April, it's another. When things start to look up for this overachiever, something always seems to pop up and bring her back down to earth. That's what happened when she failed her boards. That's right, APRIL FAILED HER BOARDS. Heck, even Alex passed and he missed one whole section.
Let's backtrack a minute here. Before she left to take her boards, April was a good Christian and a virgin. That all changed when she got to the hotel. She ended up losing her virginity to her best-friend Jackson. This caused internal turmoil and a crisis of faith during her exam. She started to freak out and had to let out some "steam" in the men's bathroom with Jackson while on a break. April went back into the interview refreshed and became unapologetic about her faith to her examiners. It didn't go as well as planned and April ended up being the only one of the residents to not pass her boards. On top of that, all of the hospitals that were courting her rescinded their offers and Owen had to fire her from Seattle Grace because Alex ate up the budget when he demanded a raise. DOUBLE OUCH!
