Season 6:

- Meredith just can't seem to get away from her family. Thatcher Grey comes in and needs a liver transplant because he developed an addiction to alcohol after Susan dies. Lexie isn't a match for a new liver, but guess who is…Meredith! Meredith is reluctant to undergo the surgery at first, but is eventually convinced by Lexie after a passionate plea. Meredith makes it clear though, she does it for her sister and not Thatcher.

- Richard is dealing with his alcoholism problem and Meredith is one of the only people that know.

- It's a baby! Meredith discovers she is pregnant shortly before the hospital shooting. In the middle of the chaos she miscarries.
