Season 8:

- MEREDITH GREY HAS BEEN FIRED! The hospital feels her actions in the Alzheimer's trial disgraced the hospital. Not to worry though, Richard is here to defend her. He goes to the board and takes the fall for Meredith. She gets her job back, but Richard is no longer the Chief.

- Meredith's shenanigans at work create a rift between her and Derek. They can't work together and this fighting almost lost them Zola. Thanks to Alex there's still hope they might still get her. Alex arranges to get a hearing about the adoption of Zola for Meredith and Derek. They saw the whole process through and receive what they've always wanted: a family.

- Meredith passes her boards. It is a tough go for Meredith; she got the flu from Zola and has to be treated like Typhoid Mary in the hotel. Not to worry though, she passes the boards and is considering taking a job in Boston.

- Tragedy strikes in the last episode of season 8. Meredith, Derek, Cristina and others are involved in a plane crash. Thankfully Meredith survives, but Lexie is not so lucky.
