We come to find out that Owen was the new Chief of Trauma and he decided to give the staff a crash course in trauma on his first day. Owen ordered a batch of pigs, stabbed each one, and tasked the residents to save them. Cristina was being too much of a perfectionist, but, against all odds, managed to save her pigs. Owen informed her that trauma isn't about being perfect and ordered her to dispose of the pigs. Still, we detected that there was something going on in between these two. Not one to beat around the bush, Owen asked Cristina out on a date. The big night arrived and Owen showed up drunk. In his inebriated state, he told her about his first traumatic case during the war. Not the most ideal first date, but a bonding moment none-the-less. Owen clearly had PTSD and was in denial. He was having violent nightmares and awoke one night to himself choking the life out of Cristina. Owen apologized, but the damage was done. He finally acknowledged his condition, agreed to get therapy, and broke it off with Cristina until he got better.
