HIGHLIGHTS:

Jimmy with Ozzy Osbourne

Jimmy: One thing I think would be fun to talk about is the Atrocity Cottage. This is a place where you lived?
Ozzy: Yeah.
Jimmy: What would happen there?
Ozzy: We would smoke dope and get drunk. It was in the country and we were growing marijuana in the basement.
Jimmy: And this was when you were recording albums?
Ozzy: Yeah, 1971.
Jimmy: The record company would send you anything you want?
Ozzy: If I wanted a car, they sent me a car. If I wanted to go on Holiday they would send me the tickets, if I needed cash they sent me a check.
Jimmy: They just sent you whatever you want without question?
Ozzy: I started selling cars. I would say I want a new Rolls Royce, and then I would sell it and get the cash.
Jimmy: You would spend the cash on wallpaper?
Ozzy: Drugs. I am a rock star man.
Jimmy: Those are the rules.
Ozzy: Wallpaper? What are you smoking?
Jimmy: Wallpaper.

Jimmy with Barry Manilow

Jimmy: This year is the 35th Anniversary of you first number 1 hit, which is Mandy. Do you remember the first time you heard the song on the radio?
Barry: I do. We were driving in Florida and the DJ came on the air and said, “And now the number one song in Dade County, Barry Manilow’s Mandy.” We nearly drove off the road. Right then I knew my life would never be the same.
Jimmy: If you hear one of your songs on the radio, will you listen through it?
Barry: Yeah, they sound great on the radio.
Jimmy: Do people ever run into you when you are listening to your own song?
Barry: One time I was in an elevator – you know how they butcher your songs in elevators – and either Mandy or Copacabana came on. Somebody was there and what would you say when you are standing next to me? I always hated that song?
Jimmy: Did you sing? That’s what I would have said. "Would you mind doing a few bars?"
