I know most people on these comments probably do not care, but i see the conspiracy comments and I just want to address them with some facts.. Government has been a tool in order to enslave people for thousands of years, it is a good thing - but can be turned, quite quickly, into a tyranical thing. Military weapons are not used on "secret societies." If you really want to know whats going on look up a particular few groups.... Bilderberg group, Club of Rome, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations. All 4 of these groups are real, at first they were secret from the 40s to the 90s. Bilderberg still set agenda's in America. They have recently bragged that they are the founders of the EU. They are trying to make a American Union with Mexico, Canada, and the states through trade agreements - which will ultimately cripple the USA. By 2012 the USA currency will be crap and we will be debilitated as a nation.... So while you guys speculate the truth is out there... all you got to do is look for it. infowars.com; prisonplanet.com; prisonplanet.tv; The Alex Jones Show on the GNC radio network off of flycast or shoutcast. There is way to much to say about the things that have been posted here. The over all thought behind this segament is pretty cool and informative. I think that every single fan of Lost should also read The Dark Tower series by Stephen King (as well as everything else he has done). I am currently on my fifth or sixth time through that series and am still finding different connections and ways to consider all the implications supplied with in. I believe that Lost will be the same way. I have only been watching the show for the last year and am working my way through the series for the second time before this final season begins. I just think that once it is over everytime you consider the "Big Picture" of Lost you will find many new things to think about. And that is just one of the numerous things that make this show so Great.

I think because the island is special, Jacob and the other guy are like two protectors of it. Jacob thinks that humans should be allowed to live there and the other man doesn't. That is why he was so angry when "the Black Rock" was arriving at the island. The man says "it always ends the same" meaning when they come they destroy and corrupt. Jacob says "it only ends once, the rest is just progress." I believe he is referring to Jack and his companions. He touches them, bringing them all to the island for a specific purpose. I think Jacob is trying to change things. If you follow carefully the instructions given to Locke in moving the island, it is clear that Jacob told HIM to move the island. He doesn't do so until the middle of the fifth season. When HE does it, the island stops moving through time and they get stuck in the 70s. Jack comes and drops the bomb down the shaft. Jacob wants this to happen, because he wants to change something, he doesn't want "things to always end the same." Right before Jacob gets thrown into the fire he says "they're coming." I believe it's because he finally achieved what he was after through the bomb and Jack and them. Whatever Jack achieved by exploding that bomb, must fit in with Jacob's purpose. I have no idea if this made sense. I tried to explain it in the best way I could. Remember what Miles said people - Daniel Faraday has never been wrong before. It is possible to change things. Jacob believes this. The other man does not.

does anyone else see the similarities between Alvar Hanso and Jacob--not that they look exactly alike, but the blue eyes and lighter look to his face and hair one is gray , the other more blond but their is some kind of similarity. The same with Gerald DeGroot and the darker haired man on the beach. Again--not that they look alike but there is a similarity -- the darker, curlie or thicker hair, not sure about the eyes but just a darker sort of look. Hanso like Jacob. DeGroot like the man on the beach.

I love Lost and their viral advertising. This sort of thing is what I'm going to miss most after the show is gone. Well, aside from the show. I love one of the questions on the questionaire. Who is your constant? Random. Plus I think the UFO says Lost on it.

you all missed another detail... the man said his coworker, "Oldham", was also interviewed. Oldham was the guy in the DI who lived in a teepee and interrogated Sayid.

Im more worried about the government and what their up to then these "Secret organizations" cause the government have more power then anyone. They would be the only ones to even have communcation with any lifeform outside earth giving the fact that they are the only ones who've explored far enough out there. Who knows what the heck goes on with the Military, who knows what NASA sees in outerspace, if they saw an alien I doubt they'd tell us.

The secret organizations wont try to overthrow the government because they ARE the government.

Nooo... Dharma was controlled by Jacobs nemesis and Jacob controlled The Others. Jacob is trying to save the future without an overuse of technology because he believes that's what eventually led to the extinction of humanity(he's from that period, far in the future). His nemesis(he is from that period as well) believes using advanced tech earlier will help them prevent the future they're from. In essence Jacob, his nemesis and the other scientists from the future we have yet to see, are all time travelers coming back in time, using the temple(super advanced AI computer) to change time periods and location, including that of the island itself.

Wow Brothershaft! I think you may be spot on. I believe it is either as you describe it or Jacob and his nemesis are super beings from another planet (God-like beings)… who are playing with humanity. Jacob does seem 'for' preserving us, while the other guy seems to think we are little nothings to be destroyed at his whim. It does make sense because Lost has evolved around time shifting technology - although the ‘supernatural’ aspects of some episodes are a bit baffling in some ways. I disagree with some posters who seem to think this 'revelation' will ruin this new season. I think the writers have much more to reveal and many more surprises in store for fans. I also do not believe that Jacob was destroyed in the last season - no way. He was much too powerful. He welcomed being knifed by 'Ben' and even encouraged him to attack. Anyway, I am really looking forward to the new season! I love this show!

I know the military has weapons that would blow this earth up, lasers and such, like the one the U.S Built it's 270 lasers in one, and it can unleash more power then the sun. I doubt any secret organization can overthrow the government, because the military IS the government as well and with weapons like those...yeah unlikely...

I think Jacob represents White(Good) and the other guy on the beach with him is black(Evil), Somehow the other guys(Black) spirit was locked in the cabin & someone moved the ash and let him out, He then used Richard to tell John Locke to Sacrifice himself. His spirit has taken the form of John Locke. The man in Black has munipulated all these people like chess pieces all through time to kill Jacob, But Jacob knew his plan all along and has also used all these people like chess pieces., Check., Jack will know he is fake because of the shoes. Checkmate.. They are coming..

I think that Jacob and his other are from another time in the future. Maybe not quite about the whole technology thing but they are arguing about something. The reason they dont age is because they time travel. Like Faraday, when he told her not to go back to the island. And the reason his other couldnt kill him, is like Faraday said, they cant die in the past, so his other had to find a loop whole, which was, somehow send Locke before he died to kill Jacob in the time after he died, thats why Locke was dead in the container. The Locke that killed Jacob was a Locke from the past

OBVIOLOGIST

I think you may have something confused, Faraday did not say that a person cannot die in the past. what he said was that even if you go back in time, it is still your present, and you can always die in your present. that is why Juliet died in the last episode (presumably) of season 5, even though it was the past, it was still her present.

The man that is blurred out I beleive is Juliet's ex-husband who got hit by a bus after Juliet said it to Richard. The man stated that Dharma interviewed some of his other colleegs. Juliet? I know his face was darkened and voiced was deepened, but you can see his hairline, lol, and facial structure and looks strikingly similar to Juliet's ex. What do you think?

I think this is very interesting?? Jeremy Bentham designed something called panocticon which is a type of prison building that allow the observer to observe all prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell whether they are being watched thereby conveying the sentiment of an invisible omniscience. Could this be some secret government or other organization controlling this. Could explain the food drops?? Jeremy Bentham designed something called panocticon which is a type of prison building that allow the observer to observe all prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell whether they are being watched thereby conveying the sentiment of an invisible omniscience. I think the key to figuring out what is going on is the choice of characters. If you look at a lot of the philoposhers they reference on the show this show comes down to what is free will and what is destiny. What makes up our actions and are they something that we naturally have or is it something learned. Great example is Locke and Jack. Jack is suppose to be the natural leader but needs to let go to see his path and Locke has experiences on his side to make him a leader. He often replied don't tell me what I can't do. His experiences have led him to become the nemesis and we will have to wait to see where this goes. My firm belief is that this will come down to choice and while I do believe we will be entering an alternate realty, I think that all roads will lead them back to the place of their origin and this which is their natural destiny. But I have a nagging feeling that some other agency or group has put this all together. I don't know why I keep seeing the reference in 316 episode of the island in the 1950's and the top secret thing going on that leads me to believe this may have been orchestrated

OBVIOLOGIST

Guys Jeremy Bentham was a 18th century philosopher (in real life, not in the history of Lost) who as the Poster above stated, Is the inventor of the Panopticon prison as well as a TON of writings. over 5 million words to be exact. the University college in london has been working to publish his collected works since 1968 and are still not half way done.

gypsybell

I just thought of something....'Jeremy Bentham' wasn't real in Lost was he? That was the alias that John Locke took when he went back to convince the Six to come back to the Island...So I must have missed an episode if Jeremy invented that prison room????

Great point! That is another thing that I've loved about Lost - this show, and the way it is written, really make one THINK! It makes us curious to explore what is really going on. It's nearly like the old fashioned entertainment of just reading a book. I love a challenge and have tried to look over all additional detail (and treasure hunts) the show's creators and producers have strategically placed on the internet to try and figure out this great puzzle. What you've put together for a possible resolution is really interesting. I do believe in the idea of it being orchestrated for sure - but by whom? That will be the ultimate answer. (So this is fiction, but the mystery has been phenomenal to me and certainly very creative overall). While I do enjoy some of the sitcoms and dramas on TV today, my favorites are always the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Adventure shows like Lost which take us away from the every day mundane into a world of endless possibilities - good and bad.
