Saturday, July 25th, Comic-Con — Executive Producers of LOST, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, kicked off their panel for the show. Since it was for the final season, they were all about giving back to the fans.
Tons of dedicated fans (we spotted quite a few decked out in Dharma jumpsuits) actually camped out in line the night before to get into the auditorium, and Damon and Carlton took the time to meet and greet those LOST enthusiasts.
We didn't camp out overnight, but we waited in line for three hours the next morning just to see what Damon and Carlton had to present. And they didn't let us down—they actually gave us some answers and some great clips!
- Juliet will appear in Season 6.
- Faraday will appear in Season 6.
- Richard Alpert's backstory will be revealed.
- Dharma will not be the focus of Season 6.
- Season 6 will have a theme, just as flashbacks, flash-forwards and time travel defined the past seasons. They're keeping the lid on what that theme will be.
- Damon and Carlton showed appreciation for their fans by playing a montage of fan-generated
LOST clips, mash-ups and parodies.
- Damon and Carlton joked about LOST not having a proper theme song. Carlton imitated the show's current "theme song," which consisted of him slowly groaning, "Whaaaaaaaaa." They then played the winning entry in their "Mock Theme Contest" and introduced the winners who were in the audience.
- Other video clips included an Oceanic advertisement, a trailer for "
Mysteries of the Unknown," which is a documentary on the Dharma Initiative, and a video on
LOST University - To prove that they're not making up the show as they go along, Damon and Carlton brought along the series finale script, which they promptly secured in a lockbox that they joked would be opened up on an appearance on
Jimmy Kimmel Live at the end of the season.
- After a fan asked about Richard Alpert wearing eyeliner, Damon and Carlton cut to backstage footage of actor Nestor Carbonell who was at the makeup table... applying guyliner! "This is cobalt!" he complained before noticing the cameras were on him.
