5 Fun Easter Eggs in the Marvel’s Agent Carter Premiere

By Lisa Weseman | Jan 12th, 2015

The premiere of Marvel's Agent Carter had everything – action, style, wit, and more than a few Marvel-ous references. How many did you catch?

Anton Vanko

When Peggy Carter needs some help tracking down Howard Stark's missing Nitramene, Jarvis takes her to see Anton Vanko, a Soviet scientist who works for Stark Industries. A much-older Anton Vanko appears in Marvel’s Iron Man 2 as the father of evil Ivan Vanko, AKA "Whiplash."

Dr. Erskine

Speaking of Nitramene, when Peggy uses the VitaRay machine to detect it on the Roxxon staff, we see the machine belongs to A. Erskine. That's a reference to Dr. Abraham Erskine, the scientist behind Steve Rogers's transformation into super soldier Captain America.

Jarvis Before J.A.R.V.I.S.

Howard's butler Edwin Jarvis should be familiar to Iron Man fans. Howard's son Tony Stark has an AI butler named J.A.R.V.I.S, an acronym for "Just a Rather Very Intelligent System."

Roxxon

Roxxon Oil, which sponsors the "Captain America Adventure" radio program that infuriates Peggy, sees a refinery implode in the Marvel's Agent Carter premiere.

Fans will note that the slightly-nefarious Roxxon Energy Corporation is seen in the Marvel comic books and cinematic universe, featured most prominently in Marvel’s Iron Man 3, with a climactic scene taking place on a Roxxon tanker.

Goodman, Kurtzberg & Holliway

When Peggy visits The Griffith for the first time, her friend Angie gossips about the residents. She mentions in passing a woman named Mary, a legal secretary at "Goodman, Kurtzberg & Holliway." In Marvel's She-Hulk comics, Jennifer Walters works at the law firm "Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway," a nod to Marvel legends Martin Goodman, Stan Lee (née Lieber), Jack Kirby (née Kurtzman).
