At San Diego Comic-Con 2014, fans waited hours for a panel discussion with the cast and crew of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and midseason series Marvel's Agent Carter.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast and crew: Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmons), Jeph Loeb (Marvel's Head of Television), Ming-Na Wen (Melinda May), Chloe Bennet (Skye), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell, and Jed Whedon, Iain de Caestecker (Fitz).

Moderator Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television, got a huge applause from the crowd — until he unbottoned his shirt to reveal a Hydra t-shirt underneath.

Producers made several big casting announcements for season 2, including Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) as a longtime S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran. British actor Nick Blood will play Lance Hunter from S.T.R.I.K.E., a character that executive producer Jeffrey Bell describes as a mercenary who will join forces with the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Reed Diamond (Dollhouse) will play an Hydra villain Daniel Whitehall.

Clark Gregg, who fans greeted with a standing ovation, said the difference between himself and Agent Coulson is getting smaller and smaller every day, adding, "Squeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Is Coulsen going crazy? Or is he just really into chalkboards? From the Season 1 episode, "Beginning of the End."

Secret baddie Brett Dalton shared the story of how he learned the biggest shocker of the season. When he got called into a meeting with executive producers, he knew something big was up — he just wasn't sure what. Upon learning Grant was actually part of the enemy force Hydra, he said, "So I’m not getting fired, but now I'm a bad guy?" Edit

Chloe Bennet talked about her character Skye finally becoming a real S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. "I was an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. for, like, one day, and then it all went to s---," she said.

Skye and May lay a trap for Ward. From the Season 1 episode, "Beginning of the End."
