7 Reasons to Get Hooked on Season 2 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

By Lisa Weseman | Nov 5th, 2014

Ward's a bad guy! Skye's an alien! (Maybe.) Here our top reasons why everyone should be watching Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this season!

1. Bad Ward is so GOOD

All the things that made Grant Ward a great S.H.I.E.L.D. agent — his espionage skills, his intellect, his handsome brooding — make him an even better adversary. This Ward's quiet intensity is mesmerizing, and after his escape in "A Fractured House," we can't wait to see what happens next!

2) FitzSimmons 2.0

After watching a near-death Fitz confess his feelings for Simmons at the end of season 1, we had no idea how these besties were going to continue to work together.  As it turns out, they haven't. While Simmons took a dangerous assignment working undercover at Hydra, Fitz has struggled to push through the lasting impacts of his brain damage, with the support of his new buddy Mack. Seeing Fitz and Simmons apart has given us a new appreciation for their characters as individuals — and has us rooting for FitzSimmons 2.0, whatever that may be.

WATCH: In "A Fractured House," Fitz asks Simmons why she left.

3. Aliens are among us

Skye's journey from hacker to full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was strewn with hints about her mysterious past, but nothing prepared us for the bombshell that she might be an alien — and our fearless leader Phil Coulson might be, too!

WATCH: In "A Hen in the Wolf House," Skye gets some surprising news.

4. Hydra is so fun to hate

Our heroes have faced some nasty enemies over the years, but there's something extra evil about the nefarious org that infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. and turned our world upside down.

5. May is an even bigger badass

Who doesn't love Agent Melinda May? She's smart, tough, and has a crackling dry wit. And this season, we've gotten to see her ballroom dance with Coulson and engage in hand-to-hand combat with herself!

6. Kyle McLachlan as The Doctor

Kyle McLachlan is mercurial, creepy, and super sweaty as The Doctor. Intent on getting his daughter Skye back, The Doctor reminds us that the most dangerous villains are not motivated by hatred, but love.

WATCH: In "A Hen in the Wolf House," Raina begs the Doctor for the Obelisk.

7. Hunter and Bobbi's chemistry crackles

Mercenary Lance Hunter and his "she-devil" ex-wife Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird) are interesting characters on their own, but they truly shine when they're bantering like Sam and Diane mid-mission.

WATCH: Hunter and Bobbi get into an argument while on a dangerous mission, in "A Fractured House."
