Angie’s son, Manny, is one of the few things in her life she thinks she did right. There are times when she loves him so much, she’s struck speechless. And of course there are also times when she thinks Manny was sent from Satan to torment her to her grave. Like when she catches him making out with his girlfriend, Crystal, on the front porch in full view of all the neighbours… or getting arrested for destroying private property... ??!
But as far as Manny’s concerned, being the son of a cop is not the easiest gig in the world either. There are a lot of parties he doesn’t get invited to. Some of his friends get real weird when they come over to the house. And for some reason, his teachers expect him to be smarter than he is… like the fact that his mom carries a gun on her day job should somehow translate into more brain cells for him.
Over the first season, Manny becomes curious about his father. Angie doesn’t know how to tell him the story and quickly changes the subject. Basically, Manny’s your average sixteen-year-old boy -- a human cyclone of hormones, insecurities, joy, fear, and a deep and abiding belief in his own immortality. All said, there’s no denying that Manny is very much Angie’s son.
