Every week, Katie will blog about the extraordinary secret her boss has shared with her.
WANTED: A BEST FRIEND/ BOY FRIEND
Being a left-brained person, I spend more time analyzing and memorizing objective facts than fabricating elaborate daydreams out of thin air. Luckily, right-brain geniuses have created mythical worlds for my pleasure and I lose myself there. My lines began to blur between reality and fantasy when my boss turned into a female Flash Gordon. When I thought things couldn't get anymore unrealistic -- I go on a date that's like something straight out of a Katherine Heigl movie.
So, now, not only am I starting to believe in the possibility of being the next Pepper Potts, but I also envision Mr. and Mrs. Smith like adventures with a man I shared one dinner with. I found Will (the male version of me according to his profile) on radidate.com. We made plans to meet in real life and I didn't hold high hopes, so imagine my surprise when he turned out to be a touch of Wolverine mixed with a bit of Nick Fury (pre-eye patch). I'm trying not to create a hypothesis without further analysis but my hopeful side battles my logical side in a fight that would make Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader look like kids in the sandbox.
It's not like I need a man or a super boss, I enjoy my life and my hobbies. Atom (my cat) and I live a very full life. We eat peanut butter and chocolate frosting from a spoon while watching Mork and Mindy reruns. We grow Sea Monkeys then dissect them to understand their unique chromosomes. We recently started attending Blizzcon (the World of Warcraft Convention) which has been great fun. But somewhere deep inside me an idea begins to form of sharing these excitements with someone else, preferably of the opposite sex. When that idea begins to form, my brain alerts my nervous system of an unfamiliar over-extension causing a sensation to crawl down all my vertebras -- or in English, I get chills.
You know what I'm looking for? The feeling when you and a best friend, family member or significant other share a ridiculous experience but both really enjoy it. You know, like a person in your life that just understands the silly things you feel like no one else does...
