5 Frozen Moments from Once Upon a Time's Archives

By Lisa Weseman | Sep 26th, 2014

Winter comes early this year when Elsa arrives and Storybrooke is frozen over! To get ready, grab a cup of hot cocoa  (with cinnamon, of course!) and check out some our favorite frozen moments from Once Upon a Time's first three seasons. Tune in SUNDAY 8|7c  for the season 4 premiere when #OnceIsFrozen!

1) Glinda's Winter Wonderland

In the season 3 episode "A Curious Thing," Snow White and Prince Charming turn to Glinda for help in defeating the Wicked Witch and learn they must make an impossible sacrifice. The snowy scene was filled with magic and icy beauty — which earned Once Upon a Time an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Costumes.

2) Red's Bitter Discovery

Red Discovers She Is the Werewolf|Can Red save the town -- and herself?|Red is horrified to learn she is the werewolf who has been ravaging the town. Can she save them -- and herself? From Once Upon a Time season 1 episode, "Red Handed."

In the season 1 episode "Red-Handed," a bitter cold night is the backdrop for the Red's devastating discovery:  she is the werewolf who has been ravaging the town. Can she save them — and herself?

3) Rumple's Sacrifice in the Snow

In the season three episode, "Quiet Minds," a frozen day in the forest matches the coldness of the Wicked Witch's heart. But Rumple's sacrifice of the dagger — and himself — proves heart-warming enough to melt the coldest ice.

4) Cora and Prince Leopold's Winter Walk

In the season 3 episode "Bleeding Through," Cora and Prince Leopold share an intimate moment on a frosty walk in the woods. The two talk about the future, as Cora teaches the supposed prince how to make a fire. It was a rare moment of warmth for Cora, whose previous romance was with conman Jonathan, who was no prince: after their intimate night together, the conman left her pregnant, penniless and alone. Now that's cold!

5) Elsa's Icy Entrance

Elsa Comes to Storybrooke|A mysterious woman emerges from the portal that Emma used to return home.|A glistening, icy figure emerges from the time portal that Emma used to return to Storybooke. The woman stretches out her arm to create icicles around her, and as she walks away, she leaves the ground beneath her frozen. From Once Upon a Time Season 3 finale, "There's No Place Like Home."

In the season three finale, "There's No Place Like Home," a glistening, icy figure emerges from the time portal that Emma used to return to Storybooke. The woman stretches out her arm to create icicles around her, and as she walks away, she leaves the ground beneath her frozen. It's Elsa! But what does she have in store for Storybrooke?
