Do They Love...Romance?

This one is a slam-dunk, my friend. All you have to talk about is Prince Charming and Snow White, because their love story is epic! They fall in love after she robs him in the woods, he defies his brutal and controlling father to find her and she eludes her vengeful step-mother, The Evil Queen herself, to be with him. Snow sacrifices herself to save Charming’s life and he battles a DRAGON to rescue her with True Love’s Kiss, and that’s just season 1!

Seriously, if they can watch a scene with Charming or Snow saying "I will always find you" and not be immediately hooked, they’re not the romance fan they claim to be.

Do They Love...Adventure?

Once Upon a Time has all an action/adventure fan could want. Pirates? Check. Dragons? Check. Monsters? Check. Magic? Double-check! Some of the most thrilling moments on television happen in any given episode from epic sword fights to magical duels to dramatic heart extractions—seriously, there have been a LOT of those. Everyone on this show knows how to throw a punch. Snow White is a total badass. Red Riding Hood turns into a werewolf. Granny is a crack shot with a crossbow! If you’ve got someone in your life who’s into some good, ol’ fashioned "Good vs. Evil", they need to be watching this show.

Do They Love...Mystery?

Series creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are two of the creative masterminds behind LOST, so they know a thing or two about creating intriguing stories that keep you on the edge of your seat. Every episode ends with an “Aw, DAMN!” moment that will have you on pins and needles until the next one—lucky for us we get to watch them all online right now! And those mysteries don’t linger forever; they just get deeper and more interesting. We know who created The Curse and why, but what’s their next move? We know Emma’s purpose was to break The Curse, but now that she has, is there something more for a “product of True Love” to do? And what exactly does The Curse being broken mean for everyone in Storybrooke, or the world outside of it? There are so many great questions that any fan of mystery can get into.

Do They Love...Villains?

Let’s face it, bad guys are cool. If they’re unique and interesting, they make their story so much better and the villains of Once Upon a Time are oh so good at being bad. Every villain in ONCE has more to them than just being a “bad guy.” They’re motivated by revenge, by lust for power or by a desire for family. You can almost see where they’re coming from if they’d just stop tearing people’s hearts out. They’re complicated and sometimes sympathetic, but also devious and destructive. If a great villain makes a great story—and they do—there are no greater villains on TV.

Do They Love...Fairy Tales?

Really, who doesn’t? We all know them, or think we know them, and they’re stories we can all talk about. But maybe the best thing about Once Upon a Time is that it takes those stories and twists them. It reinterprets and re-imagines in unique and unpredictable ways. It combines those characters together into one cohesive world and pits them against stakes that are higher than they would have ever faced alone. It makes those characters more than just names in a story and gives them personalities and motivations that mean as much to us now as they did when the stories were first told. If someone still has that childlike wonder at sitting back and being told a good, meaningful story, you should be watching this show with them.
