Storybrooke Secrets: Selfless, Brave and True

August is found, and it turns out he's been hiding in the woods. Kinda fitting, since he's gone all wooden himself. Ready to get some inside scoop on the stuff the show's creators hid in plain site? Let's get to it!

While August is snoozing on the beach, his alarm clock turns to 8:15 just before he wakes up to discover his leg is turning into wood—the same exact time Emma arrived in Storybrooke back in the series' first episode. That's yet another reference to Oceanic Flight 815, the fictional airliner that crashed during the pilot episode of Lost.

Later, when Mary Margaret is off in the woods, practicing her archery, she’s listening to “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Nice tunes, MM! That same song was used as the theme on NBC’s Freaks and Geeks, an old favorite of series creators Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz.

And finally, when Neal tries to tell Tamara the truth about Storybrooke, she flips through a number of pages in Henry’s book. Each picture we see is a moment from a previous episode of Once Upon a Time. The first image of the Mad Hatter is from episode 117, “Hat Trick.” The next page shows Hansel and Gretel in episode 109, “True North.”  Finally, the last page shows a young Baelfire from episode 108, “Desperate Souls.”

That's all this time, but keep looking for more hidden gems and let us know what you find in the comments!
