With Oceanside in bankruptcy, isn’t there anything anyone can do to save the practice? The problem is that most of the doctors are more concerned with sex than they are with money; Pete worries that he can’t keep being with Meg since she smokes like a chimney, Cooper and Charlotte get tested for STDs so they can finally have unprotected sex and Naomi and Sam get caught in the act by their teenage daughter Maya, who is thrilled her parents are getting back together.
Only Addison comes up with a new business plan. Whew. But, when she tries to lay it out with the rest of the staff, they all rush off to celebrate “Jenna’s Day.”
Wait, who’s Jenna? She’s a 17-year-old terminally ill girl, and a long time Oceanside patient, who is at long last prepared to retrieve her eggs so she can finally have her greatest wish fulfilled: To become a mother.
[break]Again, Addison is the only one to step up. She tries to raise a red flag on having Jenna impregnated, but Pete assures her the situation is totally cool.
However, when Nick, Jenna’s teenage husband, comes into Oceanside, Addison has a heart-to-heart with him about his impending fatherhood. Nick cracks a little and says he only wants to do what Jenna and her family think is right. Addison advises him to think seriously about what he wants.
It’s good advice that appears to have had an effect. As Naomi gets ready to inject Nick’s sperm into Jenna’s egg, he halts the procedure before she can finish. When pressured to say why he changed his mind, Nick clearly states it was Addison’s influence. Thanks to the kid being a snitch, all of Oceanside becomes furious with Addison.
[break]But, maybe the other doctors will come around when Addison finally announces her plan to solve the bankruptcy problem. Actually, we don’t think that’s likely. Her plan? To have Oceanside lease out the entire floor the practice rents but has kept empty for years in the hope of someday turning it into a medical sanctuary.
Addison argues that they need the money a renter would bring in while Oceanside gets its financial problems in order. Makes sense to us, but Sam and Naomi refuse to budge. There’s no way they’re giving up their dream—or the empty floor.
Jenna is another one who won’t budge. There’s no way she’s giving up her dream of being a mom. So, with Nick out of the picture, she demands to use a sperm donor.
But now it’s Naomi’s turn to shoot Jenna down by refusing to do the procedure with a sperm donor. We’re just glad somebody finally came to her senses. But it’s also nice to see Nick run back and say he may not want the baby, but he does want to be with his wife through her final days. It’s the sweet, teary romantic moments like this that we really love.
[break]That happiness gets totally buzzkilled, though, when Sam opens up his heart and tells Naomi that he wants to move back in with her and she responds that it’s time they end things for good. She breaks Sam’s heart, and Maya’s too, whose dreams of having a family again are shattered.
With all kinds of dreams being busted up, Naomi finally gives Addison the a-OK to lease the empty fourth floor. But, it’s too late: As Addison, that sneak, has already leased it!
More good news: Cooper and Charlotte’s blood tests have come back ‘all clear.’ Now, there’s nothing stopping them from jumping into the sack together. Cooper waits anxiously while Charlotte sets up shop at her new job... at the brand spankin’ new Oceanside Wellness Center that Addison has set up on the formerly empty fourth floor.
