Naomi Switches Camps When Maya Reveals She is Pregnant!

No parent hopes that their fifteen-year-old daughter delivers the news that she's pregnant. For Sam and Naomi, they are even more shocked because they did everything "right." They told their daughter about sex, reproduction and birth control. Sam and Naomi are highly educated physicians who thought their daughter would follow in their footsteps and go on to college and career. But teenagers don't always make good decisions. And Maya has done something that can't easily be undone.

Or can it? Is abortion the "undoing" of a mistake? Addison and Violet tell Naomi that they don't regret the abortions they have had, but that doesn't mean they simply "got over it." It's something that they thought about for a long time after the procedure. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, there is no easy option—especially if your mother is Naomi Bennett. Naomi is so upset seeing her plans for her daughter's life go down the drain, she goes against everything she believes in and orders Maya to get an abortion. Overwhelmed by her mother's anger and seeing the reality of a woman in labor, Maya gives in and tells her parents she'll abort the baby.

Every woman has the right to make choices about her own body—even a fifteen-year-old woman. Maya shows up for her appointment with Addison, but once she understands what her decision really means, she decides to keep her pregnancy.

Maya's hard road ahead is going to start with dealing with her mother's disappointment.
