Should Parents Whose Child Died After Being Left In A Car Be Allowed to Be Parents Again?
By Moira McMahon, Researcher
In episode 401, Take Two, Dave and Kendra Walker arrive at Oceanside Wellness in order to arrange a surrogate pregnancy. They've been heartbroken since their first child, Max, died when he was only five months old.
Naomi's concerned that they aren't ready to be parents again so soon after their loss, but she wants to help them.
When Addison learns her new patients are the Walkers, she's livid. They didn't just lose a child. They left their child in their car until it boiled to death from the inside out. She was in the ER when the baby came in and it was one of the most horrific things she's ever seen. She's not interested in giving them a second chance at parenthood. There's just no excuse for what they did.
Sheldon is called in to see if they can emotionally handle a new child. Sheldon believes that though they will never stop regretting the terrible accident that took their son, they don't deserve to be punished any further. Sheldon thinks we should go through with the surrogacy.
The Walkers already have a surrogate lined up. She understands their pain because she also lost a child the same way. She's willing to give them a second chance. Addison decides she will help the Walkers have another child. But did she do the right thing?
