This week has been pretty overwhelming for me. I've never been in a situation like this before... I LOVE working on Rookie Blue and have put everything I have into it for the last year, so to see the positive results of the premiere meant a lot to me. All the Rookies were in town this last week, so we all have been chatting and hanging out :) Charlotte and I made a weird painting for no reason, and ate a lot of cheeseburgers. None of us are big partiers so it's been pretty relaxed.
This entire situation has been surreal. I've spent a lot of the last couple of months talking about the show (even took a trip to Europe—first time!) and it made me miss being on the set, and really put into perspective how blessed I feel to be working with all the great people that I do. With a week left before the premiere Rookie Blue, I had to stop reading the articles... and then we did better than anyone thought when we premiered! It was amazing news.
I'm usually incredibly private and I am not used to Twitter or Facebook. However, I am blown away by all the support we're getting from fans. It is very encouraging to speak with people on such a personal level and get feedback so quickly. I couldn't be more grateful for everyone's support and interest, and for taking to time to tell me :)
When I read Rookie Blue (which was called "Copper" at the time) I immediately fell in love with the characters in the story. I could relate a lot to Andy (perfectionist, empathetic to a fault, etc.) and was excited to have the opportunity to play someone who had more depth. When I met with Tassie Cameron (creator), David Wellington (Director/producer), Ilana Frank (exec producer) and Noreen Halpern (exec producer), I felt like everyone was on the same page with the vision and intention for the show. We were finishing each others sentences, and I felt like it was a perfect fit. I couldn't be happier they gave me the opportunity to do this. I really mean that.
Well, for episode two... There's some consequences that Andy has to deal with for arresting the undercover cop—Sam Swarek, and since he works outside of the lines, she's forced to make some decisions that could jeopardize her probation. There may or may not be some love interests sparking ;)
