Season 6 Episode 6 "Home Run" Recap: Sam Proposes to Andy!

By Micheline Goldstein | Jul 31st, 2015

A drive-by shooter opens-fire on the community outreach baseball game that 15 Division is hosting. Two kids get shot, and the whole neighborhood is shaken. The officers of 15 Division hit the ground running in the search for the shooter. Initial evidence points to Boz Shepherd, a local gangster who Steve Peck failed to nail six months earlier. But when Gail starts to follow a lead that points to someone else, she alienates her brother. She makes the arrest, knowing what's at stake for Steve, and he feels betrayed. He lets her know, and almost makes Gail cry. Luckily, social worker Lauralee brings Sophie around for a visit, and the adorable little girl cheers Gail right up.

Meanwhile, Sam the "perfect" weekend escape Sam has planned for Andy gets off to a rocky start when something hits their windshield, and the subsequent search for the possibly dead bird ends with Sam and Andy covered in poison ivy. Things continue to go wrong, Sam feels compelled to apologize, not just for the disastrous weekend, but the roller coaster few months their relationship has weathered. Andy says, "This is better than perfect, it's us." When she turns, Sam is down on one knee, holding out an engagement ring. "Marry me, McNally," he says. Andy responds with a resounding, "Yes!"
