Gladiator Report: The Fluffer

  • By Jim Donnelly

Welcome to the Gladiator Report for the "The Fluffer” episode of Scandal. Here you’ll find highlights, quotes and a special SNEAK LEAK of the next all-new episode down at the bottom. WARNING: There are spoilers here. Enjoy!

Fluff Enough: The Grant campaign top dogs are not pleased that Abby is working as Olivia’s proxy. It’s not that she does anything wrong. It’s just that she’s not Olivia Pope. Later, Fitz orders a private chat with Olivia. He’s ticked she sent Gabby in her place. He doesn’t care what her actual name is. The discussion turns into an emotional argument about their relationship. Despite the words that were spoken, this scene is no fluff piece.

Behind Closed Doors: Jake gives Quinn and Charlie an assignment to do surveillance on Maya Pope. He’s firm, decisive and in complete control. Then, later that night, he’s not. Jake shows up drunk outside Olivia’s door. He misses her. He wants to come in. That’s not going to happen.

Fulfilling a Need: Cyrus leaks the news that Sally Langston’s daughter had an abortion. Olivia is ticked. Cy did it because he feels Liv was lying down on the job by sending a proxy. That would be Gabby/Abby. Apparently, the president isn’t listening to Liv these days either. He’s in the Oval Office chatting with a new VP pick. Olivia breaks up the meeting. She asks Fitz what he needs. She has to hear him say it.

Getting Closer: Huck gets into B613’s bank account, but it’s empty. Rowan/Eli/ex-Command/Dad believes Jake moved the data. The money still exists, but it can only be accessed from within B613. Olivia needs to get close to Jake’s phone for Huck to access the B613 account. That means she has to get close to Jake.

GladiQuotes: Below are some of the top lines from "The Fluffer." Let us know which ones were your favorites and, by all means, pop in any that we forgot in the comments section.

David: You’re not going to believe this, but I was this close to saying top secret, money-siphoning algorithm yesterday.

Abby: Liv, I think the house is burning down.

Olivia: Am I your fluffer today, Fitz?

Jake: I would never kill your friends.

Jake: I asked you to save me. And you said no.

Fitz: I need Andrew to stop screwing my wife.

Olivia: If you haven’t ended things with Mellie, I’ll have to do my job and life as you know it will be over.

Leo: Do you have any advice that doesn’t involve insulting me?

Harrison (to Huck): You’re lucky you’re not normal, man.

Mellie: You take everything from me!

Abby: You don’t get to run. You’re a gladiator. Gladiators don’t run. They fight. They slay dragons. They wipe off the blood and stitch up their wounds and they live to fight another day. You don’t get to run.

Family Dinner Conversation: Harrison employs his contact Claire to get info on Olivia’s mom, who has come out of hiding. Mama Maya crashes the dinner her daughter is having with her dad. She’s there to tell Olivia to find a new line of work because what she’s doing now is just too dangerous.
