Everything started when David Rosen woke up in his apartment to find his one-night-stand, Wendy, had been murdered and left beside him. Desperate, he called the only person he knew could help him—Olivia Pope. The OPA team moved the body and helped David get clear of any murder charges, but they also started digging into who Wendy really was and why someone would want to kill her.
The team’s investigation into Wendy turned up that she was sleeping with Washington power players to dig up dirt and secrets she could sell. David believes she must’ve targeted him looking for information about Defiance and the rigging of the presidential election. Meanwhile, someone keeps calling Wendy’s cell phone, looking for her. Olivia tracks the caller down and discovers it’s an intelligence officer named Jake Ballard, whom she had happened to bump into at a pastry shop that morning. When she meets with Captain Ballard, he tells her that Wendy had come to him saying she had something pertinent to a classified project he’d been working on, but he never got the chance to find out what. He also asks Olivia out on a date, but is politely refused.
